If you still want a new one btw, it's a good idea to browse around a few shops, and find the one you like the look of, because the keyboards/touchpad's/screens/weight can be very different from model to model, then search for the cheapest deal on the web, and search for vouchers and cashbacks and supermarket deals - there should be a few windows 7 bargains about as W8 is now out.

I've taken the laptop apart (probably too much) but I can't see anything lose, but then again I wouldn't know. Should I post a picture?

have you found the power connection to the inverter (it may need replacing, loose cable is best case scenario), page 90 in the guide
