  • Morning Everyone :hello:

I overslept abit this morning, anyway the plan for today is to clean the house and do some washing if this horrible mist clears. Sister and her kids came yesterday and the house looks like a bombsite now!!

I managed to do the ironing yesterday - finally I've been meaning to do for the previous couple of days!! Otherwise another lazy day - just can't get motivated and getting anxious about going back to work next week.

My nan is moving later today so might pop over and give her a hand (she got all my male cousins helping her, got a feeling I might get in the way) otherwise I will visit her over the weekend.

Anyway, have a good day to all those that are celebrating and hugs to those that one that want/need them.

    Good Morning All

Another good night sleep, woke up once! :j which is better than usual

My nephew turned up again last night. He's 19 and living any where he can! His mum (my horrible sister) kicked him out a couple of yrs ago. His dad & step-mum tried to help him, Ive tried. But at that age they want to do their own things. Anyway, he seems to be in limbo again, ref place too stay & job! But now tells me on the 22nd April, he's going to spain to work for the summer with my exBIL. (his step-dad). Im really pleased for him. And I hope he doesn't mess this opportunity up!

Me & OH are off out again Sat night, my cousins 21st surprise birthday party. Luckily the kids will be with their dad, so we dont have to worry about them!
Thats two wk ends on the trot we've been out!

Right best be off, and get ready for work
    Have a great day All
    Love as usual

Also, if this is not a stupid question, there is a photocopier in the library (pay per sheet thing) can I use it to copy recipes etc? Is that what it's there for? I won't get told off for recipe copyright theft type thing will I?

Not a stupid question at all! Think you might still be in breach of copyright, though, if you photocopy books.

I've always thought that the library is like an office, and will have a copier for its own use. It makes sense, therefore, to offer a copying service to the public, and in our area undercuts the local shops by about 50%.

    Morning All

Hope you're all well, can I join the tired club today? DD (4) decided to wake at 1.30am and holler that she was scared!! I was not happy and it took me a good 20 minutes to get back to sleep. Told her she wouldn't have her birthday next week if she didn't go back to sleep. ;) , feel a bit mean this morning for saying that.

Haven't been on much as am really trying not to at work although it is hard and don't get online in the evenings unless DH is on night duty.

Hope all are well, I have a slight twinge in my ear but as I'm still bunged up with the remnants of a cold I think I will ignore it.

This morning will do a quick tidy up and pop to the supermarket. Friend called first thing this morning to invite us to a picnic so will pick up some bits for that and spend the day in the sunshine. She lives near a new farm shop too so will check taht out. Will try a and prepare dinner beforehand too - making poor mans cassoulet, doesn't really match the weather but then again we always have a bowl in Carcassonne when it's 40 degrees!!

Will try and catch up on the threads over the weekend, hugs to all in need.

  • Morning all! Hugs to those not feeling well, sorry to hear about the car, Snowy, hope it doesn't cost too much to get through.

Dull and cloudy here today but it's quite warm out. I've done two loads of washing already ready to peg out on the line (just got to get myself off this computer first  ), there's a fresh loaf just out of the BM and the place is still cleanish and tidy after the weekend so not much housework to do today :T

Hugs to all those losing sleep, I feel so lucky today because for once I didn't wake up with one of those horrible menopausal night sweats :T makes life so much nicer when they go away for a while!

Racy, I hope you manage to entice your snail out, I have a phobia about slugs and snails, so rather you than me <shudder>, well done for improving your baby coot's feeding habits though- bet there are not many little birdies being fed on dahl today :rotfl:

Have a great day everyone - stay out of trouble!!

    a) Not a stupid question :D

    b) Yes, that is what it is there for.

    c) No, you will not get told off for recipe copyright theft if it is for your own personal use. What you *mustn't* do, is publicly publish it - this is always printed on the inside of books :D HTH.

Haven't made it to my course this morning, thanks for asking twink, you are such a sweetie :) it is still a bit swollen and not as comfortable as it usually is. Great thing about my course is, I can do the work at home, so no guilt trip about not going in ;):D

Mind you, not sure how much of the discomfort is from falling, the gardening or the painting  Methinks it's a combo.

    Good morning everyone,

Snowy - sorry about the car, hope it gets through next time!!

Penpen - hope the finger improves, i agree with twink - make sure your tetnus is up to date.

PP - If you are reading, hope you are feeling better soon xxx

    Welcome to all the 'newbies'.

((HUGS)) to anyone ive forgotton, or who would like one xxx

Had a lovely relaxing day yesterday - DS spent most of it playing outside (i love it when children can be children and run around outside) although DD stayed with me, making the last of the Easter chicks that i had bought for the LOs!!!!. We did take a walk down to town, to pay some money into the bank (trying to save money and be healthy) and while we were there, saw that DDs picture was in the local paper!! It was because their school had an Easter eggstravaganza, and (she had won her classes 'best hat') she had been one of the children picked to have their pic taken - so we had to buy a copy. Also, one of our local charity shops was selling all their books for 10p each, so picked up a few, so will be kept busy for a few days!!! Would use our library more, but its a small one, and doesnt often have the books im looking for, and it takes them ages to order them in!!!
I also cut DSs hair last night, so that was a good job out the way.

Today - i really need to do some cleaning, get the BM (HM pizza for dinner tonight) on and maybe DD and i will make some cakes, its my last day off work, and their last day off school so want to do something - DS will prob want to be out playing with his mates.

Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

In an effort to help you see things from another perspective .... could have been much worse, you could have paid twice as much for it than you did and that would have been even *more* gutting ;)

You are not an idiot, so stop beating yourself up ;) ... yes, I admit, even I have done something similar and I'm sure others on here have too!! Put it down to experience, you'll laugh about it one day ;):D

    Morning :hello:

Yet another lovely day - I don't care that it's Friday 13th :D However I have not got off to a good start - caught bus instead of walking to work, and breakfast was a fat-laden bacon sarnie due to not being hungry when I was at home but being starving by the time I got off the bus... :o Oh, and I had one of those situations on the bus where you're sitting in the "priority" seat (i.e. the one you're supposed to give up to somebody who needs it more) and there was a woman standing in front of me who might or might not have been pregnant, but I didn't dare offer her the seat in case she wasn't :o

I love weeks that start with a bank holiday as it makes it "Friday... already!" rather than "Friday... at last!"

I had a lovely chat on the phone with my cousin last night - the one who has just moved into my area :j She happened to mention that she bought a bike a few months ago and has never ridden it since due to lack of confidence. So I said SNAP - the result of which is that we're going to go cycling together in the park to improve our skills :) I am so so pleased that she decided to move to Camberwell! This is the cousin that I was closest to when we were growing up - my extended family is scattered all over the world, but her family were only 15 miles from us, and we are quite close in age - she is slightly older than me, her sister is slightly older than my sister, and her brother is slightly older than my brother, so each of us always had somebody to play with. She has recently come out of the Army, so after years and years of her being posted abroad so I never even used to see her at family gatherings, she is finally settled and I can see a lot more of her.

    Todays plans include:
    - work - it's surprising how much gets done when my boss is on holiday!
    - open an ISA - the Barclays Tax Beater of course, as recommended by Martin!
    - respond to a couple of mystery shopping emails I have been sent
    - run a session on "how to create a good CV" for the girls on the project I help with
    - go to the opera - I have free tickets as I'm reviewing it, and am taking my ex as it's his sort of music

Re: libraries - I confess I haven't used mine for borrowing books lately, but it was a godsend when I first moved house and didn't have internet access (local library has free wi-fi).

Quick question - I have never used Tesco home delivery before and I need to know whether special offer prices apply on the day you order or the day it's delivered. I want to buy a case of Codorniu Cava while it's half price (until Tuesday) and although I was planning on 2 trips with the Wally Trolley, it makes sense to use home delivery as I have a wine club voucher for 1000 clubcard points for a wine spend over £50, which can only be used online...

SnowyOwl - sorry the car failed :(
RacyRed - I hope the snail situation gets resolved soon :D I know what you mean about snails being "nice" - even if they are basically slugs in jaunty outfits :D
joannasmum - well done on a good night with DD - maybe you could send some "child sleeping through the night" vibes in kyle's direction!
((((hugs)))) to anybody who needs them :) :grouphug:

Anyway must dash, work is calling!

    Rzl xx
