Friday 13th April 2007 - (not unlucky for OS'ers)

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday the 13th April 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier! When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
My apologies for the early start
I have spent the evening working out our pennies and generally thinking about the future, perhaps I have just done too much today and am overtired, LOL just like the LO on occassions.
Today's plans are a quick tidy round and then tackle the utility room. A very deep clean is needed and when this is done that just leaves the kitchen for a spring clean and it is done.!!!!!!!
Spring clean over!!!!!:T :T :T :TWe have promised the children another picnic on Sunday - they sooooo enjoyed last week, so the aim is to finish it all by Saturday night. That leaves me Monday to start a jigsaw, one of many waiting to be done - LOL along with a bookcase full of books to read, not done either since I first got pregnant but I am determined to get the house right and then some me time - (however fleeting). Back at work on Wednesday,
I have made up the packed lunches, sorted out their clothes, all washing done and we have decided to have sausages and mash tomorow with oninon gravy for tea. Lunch will be left over rice salad with a baked potato and chilli.
A dreaded phone call to the benefits office re - OH is a must tomorrow and also a call to my work.

To everyone who needs one today - and........................

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Oh an afterthought, - Netto are currently selling two jars of herb and mushroom pasta sauce for 49p and also microfibre cloths are 3 for 85p. We stocked up there today for £24.31 for the week.
I hope you all have a good day,
See you later,
Smoky. xxxxx
Edit, LOL I always get some part of the the title wrong. If there's anyone about can you amend it for me please. Many thanks.

Morning Smoky (though I do hope you are actually sleeping by now), and good morning to all who follow.
The bad news...my car didn't pass its MoT, need to get it seen to then booked in again - the last thing I need really but aw well, it's hardly a big problem compared to what so many others have to face. Churchie I really really do miss the system in England, it was fabulous being able to book it in for a service and MoT without all the palavar we have to go through over here.
Otherwise there is nothing to report here, just the usual goings on of washing, cleaning, going to w*r*, etc etc. But it's Friday so hurrah!!

Good morning Smoky, Snowy and all reading, really fantastic pics this morning smoky, thank you :A Snowy, sorry about your car.
Well, it must be summer, I had the SC on overnight and it warmed the flat so much that it I woke up at an 'orrible 'our feeling far too hot! Thats the dreaded Friday 13th off to a good start!
Still, daylight is creeping over the park, the birds are singing (and stuffing their faces on the feeders) and if I get to work earlier I can start the weekend earlier
Littlest coot chick appears to be very picky about food and is really not growing very fast, It is crying for food all the time but doesn't appear to eat very much of what it's parents offer, and they bring it lots of food. The other 3 chicks are already twice as big as it is. I'm concerned, might toss some of the dhal out of the SC to it to see if it eats that, but I suspect it is something more worrying than it just being picky.
Update - LCC just stuffed it's face on dhal... phew!
Right. I have a very little problem, there is a snail in the spout of my watering can and I can't persuade it to come out. I talked to BF about it, his recommendation was to smash it  , but I can't as I've looked it in the eye when it peeped out the spout after almost being drowned!
Anyone had any experience in evicting snails from watering can spouts? It's quite a nice snail, they have really interesting heads when you have a good look. I've found somewhere I can evict it to where it can munch to it's hearts content without annoying anyone....
Did I just say it's "quite a nice snail"? Aaaarrrgh! Get me to the therapist! Or maybe I'm a Bhuddist at heart. (Are they the ones who don't kill anything?) Whichever...

Right, 2nd cuppa is calling me. And I need to take the dhal out the SC. Stay well, be happy

maybe someone could change the thread title?
another day at work today and then my first weekend away from books for months!! yeeee haaaa!x x x0 -
Good Morning. I have been up since 2am as I was unable to sleep, now I'm shattered and I've just heard DS4 (3) moving about in his room. Poo - was hopeing to get a quick half hour snooze in.
Like you, Smokybabe, I've been looking at money and the future. Really want to move away from where we live but can't afford to
DH and I talked at length last night about ways we can improve the situation and I think thats why I was unable to sleep - facts and figures dancing round in my head!
Snowyowl - sorry that you're car didn't pass it's MOT, hope its nothing too expensive.
Nettle soup went down well with the kids yesterday, which I was surprised about (well, I did let them think it was potato and broccoli soup as thats what they decided it was and moaned a little to begin with. Halfway through, when they decided they liked it, I told them the truth!! They didn't think why I got them to pick the top leaves off the nettles at the allotment!!)
This morning I have to get to the bank to pay a couple of cheques in, then take DS3(6) to outpatients at the local hospital to get some moulds taken so that he can have his new hearing aids fitted.
This afternoon I am visiting some elderly rellies and dropping off their shopping for them (they are pretty much housebound - must be so frustrating for them). Have to start clearing out the boys room as a freind has offered us a couple of high sleeper beds which should be ready to go next week, but the boys room is a tip so I need to get all the things that are no longer played with to the charity shop so we will have room to take apart the beds we have now and put the new ones up. Not looking forward to this as I know I'm going to uncover a awful amount of washing (why cant the boys put their dirty washing in the laundry basket? DD manages to!!) and lots and lots of what I believe junk and they believe to be treasures!
Dinner tonight is chick pea curry. I remembered to put the chick peas to soak last night and will be trying some ASDA Smart Price curry sauce which was recomended on another thread and only cost 19p.
Have a lovely day, everyone, and thanks for the lovely 'welcomes'

Wave a bit of lettuce down the spout at it. Snails seem to flock from miles around to eat lettuce. Just pretend to the snail that you really, really, really do not want it to eat the lettuce as you love the lettuce so much. Snails will eat anything that you treasure

Morning. Phone ringing at 6am... then stopped, caller witheld their number. Who the heck was that???
It could be someone has died or in hospital? Or it could be work calling me in for overtime, or maybe I will never know. I hate that.
Friends over for a meal tonight. I am not sure what to do. I am sure the BBQ may figure in there somewhere, as does beer and wine.
I cocked up on e-bay this week by sending someone 2 left shoes. Thankfull they told me before I sent 2 right shoes to someone else. It's all sorted now, but my profit has gone in extra postage... idiot.
Well better shower I suppose and feed the chickens, take the dog out and get to work. Nice W/end off....NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Many thanks! Knowing me, I'll try this :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi Smoky - hope you catch up on your sleep! Sounds like you're doing too much so make sure you find that space for yourself even though it seems to be very difficult for us OS'ers at times! Good pictures again - loved the 'am I too sexy?' one. Have downloaded photobucket and think it's brilliant - will find lots of uses for it so thanks again for the tip!
Snowy - so sorry the car failed the MOT - I hate that time of year. We've been lucky with our cars ever since OH decided we would get an old BMW rather than a newish 'something-else' and our last BMW - which is ancient - has just gone straight through its sixth MOT! In fact, we gave it to DS2 last year when he was saving up to buy his first house with his GF - it meant he could sell his 'trendy' car - which always needed work for the MOT - and put the money towards their deposit. DH bought another oldish BMW - which I drive, because he uses a pick-up for his work - and that has just gone straight through the MOT. He is convinced you're better off with a BMW because, however old they are, they are so well-built they just keep going and going! Anyway, good luck with getting it through - I thought our MOT system was a palaver but yours sounds like a nightmare.
Well - I had such a lot planned for today because DH will be out for most of it and I can get on uninterrupted but a friend has been let down by two of her employees and I had a desperate phone call last night asking me if I'd
help out for the day - she owns a shop (a nice girlie one !) so, of course, I couldn't say no. Oh, well - no peace for the wicked, as they say! I'll just have to play catch-up over the weekend and I should have done more yesterday rather than keep saying to myself - 'oh, I'll do that tomorrow!'
Anyway, Happy and Lucky Friday 13th to Smoky and Snowy and everyone who comes after - will look in if I get a lunch break (forgot to ask!) and will definitely call in this evening. DH has promised to cook dinner - lamb chops which I had OS plans for but will probably now be with egg 'n' chips!
Must get the WM on so I can hang the washing out before I go - see you all later!:j :A :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :hello:KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:
