Another NSD for me yesterday, up to 6 now:) today will be a spend day as I have to take my eldest to the orthodontist and pay for parking, so have planned other spends as well. DD has cubs tonight, so will be paying a full months fees in one go instead of each week. Will nip into Tesco and buy some more milk and a few bits I am running out of plus put petrol in.

    Have a good day everyone

Everyone is doing so well. :T

I banked another NSD and now just about to plan next week's meals and write my list of essentials for shopping tomorrow. I'm also going to take my first steps into the festive season and assess what I need to get for Christmas pud.

There are identifiable gaps in the freezer  and the fruit and veggies are at rock bottom, down to the last apple, two potatoes an onion and a kiwifruit.

I don't know who you are, and forgive me if I pick this up wrong but if you are having any sort of a dig at someones choice of job and what they write on my post you may take your Pingu butt somewhere else. Do I make myself clear?

Yes we encourage people to write their feelings but a snobby little comment indicating you clearly have no idea what teachers of any sort have to put up with, is not what I call a constructive addition to my thread.

You are not a contender. You are not welcome as a "lurker".

I will report your post if you continue - simple as that! I am just sorry I didn't read this properly or understand your tone last night...

I'm glad you like the Secret Sock idea, gelmc, it's really working well for me. It is a place to put the underspent part of your budget, and even a small amount is better than nothing! [which is what I always used to have....!] I also use it for when I do bits of overtime or freelance work; that money comes straight out of my bank when it's paid, and is marched over and paid in to my Sock. Once I started trying to get a handle on my finances properly, I realisd that each month, if I stuck to my envelopes and my budget, I 'should' have been able to save a certain amount of money - but I never seemed to! So now, after pay day, I draw out enough for my weekly envelopes and the amount for my Treat Tin. I then let all my DDs go out, and the day after that, I draw out what I always felt I should be able to save, and pay it in to my Secret Sock. That way, I don't fritter it away on nonsense, but actually do save it. It's a lovely [and unusual!] feeling to know that there is money growing in my Co-op account! After doing all this, I don't go near my bank account/use my debit card until next pay day. Just as well, really, as there is nothing much left in my account!! :rotfl::rotfl:

My saying of the moment is "I am working in a purely cash economy"! The weekly envelope thing is how my Dad told me to manage my money when I first started working, 47 grillion years ago. I can just hear him and my Mum muttering 'Good God, it took you long enough to catch on.....'
  • Good Morning one and all!
Welcome to our 1st WEEK ANNIVERSARY!!

It has been a fun, fruitful, exciting 8 days I think! How about you!! However, the most important thing of the day...
    :bdaycake:Happy Birthday To You:bdaycake:
    Happy Birthday To You
    Happy Birthday Dear Abundant
    Happy Birthday To YOU!!!

Abundant1972 has taken this challenge by the horns - scored an impressive 7 NSD's in a row and today he is allowed to celebrate his 40th birthday!! . However I get the distinct feeling he may wait until the weekend and try and score two more NSD's.... Abundant1972 remember to go to the NSD thread and declare your string.. I don't think many will be anywhere near this!

Now I will ask everyone to keep there well wishing to personal messages, simply as we need to keep the thread as clean as possible .. in boxing is more fun and you can send whatever you may wish..within reason! ...:)

Well last night at my meeting I met Baroness Betty Boothroyd... what did you do last night?? :p:p:p I am also very tired though but glad I kinda have tomorrow off .. albeit at the dentist but it will be an NSD come hell or high water...

Hope everyone is raring to go.. the weekend and its temptations are just around the corner. Perhaps share what you have planned for your cooking? Man was I glad to have my soup ready and frozen. There is nothing worse than getting home late, having to get up early and scraping together something ill prepared and slightly grubby to eat.. worse still going to the CANTEEN...:eek::eek:

SO... I am looking into a new rucksack. One for motorbiking AND camping. Watch this space, I intend to get a bargain somehow...:)

Kiwisaver please tell me what you do with this! :p Could you fry the potatoes with the onion..add the diced apple and kiwi as a slightly weird take on a salad..?

WanttobeSE - glad you are so determined. Its great setting off with your mind set in stone. That way you KNOW you can stand strong in the face of I-want-cake syndrome..

    Jamiedodger is on a role!!

Siouxsie doesn't the save on your tube ticket out-weigh and cancel out the choccie bar? Well done on the Quidco App though! I think I need to walk around town just to use it...

Cranny44 and DeterminedDiva - well done on the NSD's. Love how Cranny is giving herself trophies!..:rotfl:

Missyv30 - I have begun to realize some people, however nice they may be, are not worth the effort as you are clearly not on their top list...Stop doing loads for others and start doing loads for yourself.. this means spending more time on yourself, saying no to others occasionally and using free time to make money instead of wasting it on people who always let you down...

Right on that happy note.. I gotta run...

    Onwards and Upwards.

  • Thanks Kat and everyone else for my Birthday wishes... and I totally agree - let's keep this board focused on our NSD challenges!!! We're all doing great!

Am also liking the 'Secret Sock' idea... is it an actual sock... is it a very big sock...? Am just imagining it full of loose change dragging on the floor hehe!!!... I have a virtual secret sock I guess... just an extra bank account I manage online that I push spare change to... I call it my 'Money Pot' and also have a virtual 'Treat Tin' where I pay something each month. Difficult to add spare change to though... Suppose i could do the sock then when it gets full just deposit it into my account...

Have a great NSD everyone... or for those of you who are spending today... Ask yourself, is this something I simply want... do I really need it...? Be frugal but treat yourself too!!!

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all!

Today is going to be a spend day. I have decided that as we're moving our bedroom from the back to the front tomorrow night and having to wait in on Saturday for our new bed to be delivered and the TalkTalk man coming to switch us over, there'll be no time to shop til Sunday and we'll have run out of milk and catfood before then.

So as today is looking like a quiet day at work, I'm going to plan my meals for next week (brought a list of food I already have in with me) and write a shopping list. Hoping to keep it under £40 this week after going £2 over budget last time.

Breakfast today was crumpets (bought when on offer and frozen) lunch is leek and potato soup and YS roll (my last portion) and the chilli I made yesterday for tonight.

    Woo! Go Kat! You're a tigress! :T

I'm sneaking in with my head bowed and my tail between my legs, having ruined a week of damned hard work :( Yesterday should have been NSD Number 6 without a hitch, but a dear friend needed some time out and so I went along to the pub intending to spend but a few pennies.

You guys know the rest :( I'm so cross with myself that I could blow that money so easily. I don't "do" going out and now I remember why. Wallet hangover!

So, back on the wagon to atone for my sins. Have a good day people xx
