I was aiming for a dignifed silence on this, but can't deny that what you are referring to made my blood boil . I was also secretly hoping that I would have the support of my fellow Just say NOvemberists, andKat you are certainly looking after your flock BIG STYLE today. Much appreciation! x
ps will post properly later
I had to post am so glad kat responded because i work in a special needs school as an teachers assistant. i know excatly how hard the hours can be for teachers myself also yes i get 13weeks holiday, but for the crap we have to put up with sometimes. Also for myself the pay we deserve the holidays some people just don't think before posting. I do this type of job because i love it and also to be able to be with my kids at the summer. Unlike that pingu person i realise how hard teachers work and the long hours not just for parents evening. Because i was married to a teacher too and if kat hadn't of said something i would have because that did make my blood boil  what they said to you.:j

Ok, just been onto Asda grocery website to tot up what my shopping should cost and, ta-da!, should come to £40.63 but I have a £5 off a £40spend coupon so hopefully should cost only £35.63. :T Also some of the meals I've planned to cook next week will make more than one meal's worth so there will be some meals to freeze. I have treated us to some pudding rice to make the total reach £40 so I can either use up milk if we don't eat much cereal or I can use the powdered milk I bought for bread making (which I no longer do as Hubby couldn't resist HM bread and ate twice as much as he should!)
It was a bit time consuming but I now have a shopping list printed out with expected prices (printed out at work of course)
I know £35 may seem a lot on groceries to some of you more frugal mse-ers but my average shop used to be £70 a week (often much more) so I'm impressed with my efforts.0 -

youngest son came home from school with a letter asking for £10 towards a trip. My first thought was "i cant blow my NOvember budget"...but then i made £8 on Ebay today, and i'll take extra £2 from my grocery budget that i didnt spend last week0

:T well done on cutting your shopping down i have to admit i find this bit hard too as i used to spend £70 a week if not more.
i found it really hard to cut down my grocery bills, and my monthly shop would often be £690-£720 a month
:eek::o
The biggest changes for me have been: i have gone down a brand when i shop in the big 4, and have experimented a lot with the basic brands and have realised a lot are fine; i have stopped shopping in the big 4 as much as possible and changed to L!dl; meal planning, meal planning and meal planning- this has saved my literally £100s!0 -

Another cheer leader here, following this thread and making me think before I buy things, looking in my cupboards / freezer before I go shopping and using up food. Some interesting meals but only cooking for myself.
Well down so far everyone, your doing so well and certainly make the lurkers think twice before parting with cash!
Eh xx0 -
Hi, WantToBeSE, have PM'd you original post about Secret Sock. I agree with NSK that it's best to keep this thread to its original purpose. But I'm still cheering you all on - you are doing great!0

Happy Birthday Abundant! What does 40 feel like? Not far off myself.
Well am whacked today and sorry that I didn't have a NSD as I had to buy a bottle of water and a couple of bananas for work. So I spent £1.04 but I feel this is a development, as I only bought what I needed, and didn't see my visit to the shop as an excuse to see what else I could buy, which I've done in the past. I think my motto in recent months has been 'I shop, therefore I am.' Basically what the advertising industry, big banks and global brands want me to believe in/think.
I still need to post the book I sold on amazon. A girl from Spain also got in touch via ebay (she's likes a top I'm selling) and asked me how much it is to post to Spain?!??? I said £6, but I don't know if that's right? Got my first DVD delivered by Lovefilm (Almodovar's 'This Skin I Live In' for all you film buffs) which I thought was really speedy.
Am going to go for a NSD tomorrow and then spend on Saturday by doing a food shop, plus I'm going out for lunch with a friend. I've asked if we can do it for no more than a fiver as I'm in a budget, and she was more than accommodating. It's all good!:):):):):)NinjaSavingKat wrote: »
GelMC.. I am just sorry I didn't see it last night! I was so tired. Hopefully that won't happen again..Pingu is purporting to be a teacher on another thread as well so her post could possibly have been worded a little better if she was trying to make a point about holidays/work etc. Weird huh!
No worries Kat, you're not responsible for what the person said. Did you enjoy your macaroni and cheese? Had an success with your ebay sales?0
