I dragged out the slow cooker at the weekend, and now dusted off the pressure cooker and a donated bread maker. We will now be able to make meals with cheap cuts of meat and harder veg without using loads of power.
I've found some bread mixes in the cupboard so that will save buying a couple of loaves. Sadly they won't last as long in this house as shop bought. Warm buttered bread is our downfall.
I've cancelled 2 quarterly magazine subscriptions due out in November as they were getting repetitive.
Also paid the window cleaner who is now due mid December. Half an hour after he left the rain came down so the windows are streaky again
Roll on tomorrow - I'm looking forward to the challenge.I divorced my First Husband on Religious Grounds:A

WEll good evening chickadees.. how are we all feeling! Seems like you are all set and ready to go.. less than an hour until kick off and despite having to be back up at 0500 I am making soup and baking bread...
Splendiferous evening spent with a girly-friend who is amused by this little challenge but is not an MSE'er.. she indicated this is hard when ones partner is not MSE minded - is that right?
My tabby has yet to complain................although she might when she gets Tesco Everyday Value kitty-cat biscuits...
So we ate and chatted and I left at 2100 realising I had no "essentials"... que a mad dash to a SM ( sorry ).. and the reduced goodies had been picked to the bone. I was somewhat disheartened as I had been thinking about it all day..(sad?)..however I settled for some cheese, margarine, carrots and parsnips and have used my onions and red lentils I have at home to make a yummy soup ( adding chilli flakes helps )..
Bread machine is going and I will leave it until morning.. some day I will learn to work the timer...
Now... I must re-iterate something that has been mentioned a few times already, and if mentioned again might upset me... I use capital lettering to make a POINT, I do not use it to shout.. apparently its a universal indication of shouting. I did not know this. I am merely driving home the importance of an issue and do not want my little chickadees thinking I am scolding them.. I am in this with you, not standing on the side-lines...
Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh 30 minutes to go!!!!!“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Am loving the Hunger Games quote NinjaSavingKat!
Well had a bit of an expensive day, what with seeing friends, lunching and dining. One good thing I did do was take an audit of my wardrobe for suitable items to be sold on ebay, so will get them on there tomorrow. These included a couple of Zara blazers, a couple of dresses, some ballet pumps, a couple of other blazers, a Primarni top and a H and M short wool coat. I also need to take a look through my jewellery box and see if there are any unworn/unwanted items.
Apart from that will have to shell out £75 for a speed awareness course, as I was caught doing 36 mph in a 30 zone by a speed camera. Got the letter today. I know this was stupid and irresponsible. Maybe my ebay sales will fund this?
Igamogam I'm not that fussed if EP pays slightly less than teaching to begin with. I'm currently on UPS2 (in my 9th year of teaching) and the EP pay is not too below that, plus I want a better work life balance, to work with kids one to one and to work in a range of settings. I nearly trained as a social worker in my twenties so feel that the way of working would be similar to this. All I need to do now is get studying and get qualifed!
Buffythedebtslayer you don't know how chuffed I am that you have joined because of what I said. It's good to know I'm not the only in a similar boat. It is so easy to fritter money away. I think I've made it into an art from through the years but no more. The funny thing is I get the same buzz from spending that I do from being limited by a budget and then having to get creative and generate cash or get discounts with coupons/vouchers from online surveys/cash from market research etc.
Indeed let the games begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:DMorning all!
So, NOvember begins... I've woken up all full of promise and raring to go. Hope that this lasts. Just waded through my bank balance and it's as bad as I was expecting so no horrid surprises. Time to batten down the hatches, get on and survive the month.
Good luck everyone.
I'll report in as much as I possibly can.
Thanks Kat for running this challenge.:TNinja Saving Turtle0 -
Morning all. Day one begins eh?
Sat down with my christmas present list this morning and worked out everything I need to buy. With a bit of luck I should come in we'll under budget for this year, using boots 342 and vouchers and suchlike:)
Pretty murky here this morning, so have settled myself down for my first NSD:T
Checked bank accounts and everything looks as it should. Also checked petrol in car yesterday and I have more than I thought, which means I may be able to stretch this to last until the second week of nov.
A big thank you to Kat for starting this thread and giving me the kick up the backside I needed:D
Looking forward to updating my spend free day on the NSD thread later today:jNovember NSD's - 70 -
It's arrived, NOvember is here. It feels a bit like a spring clean!
I have to go to Tesco to pick up a direct order of underwear and nightwear for my children (already paid for) but worried as I need milk and bread, so will have to pop into the main store. I'l be chanting 'just say no, just say no!'
