I'm really tempted to join but also feel I would be setting myself up for a fail. I shall support from the sidelines and attempt my own NOvember-lite challenge. I find it really difficult to get Hubby on board with these kind of challenges, he's yet to have his LBM and he just doesn't "get it", grrr!

I will reduce my grocery spend, get back into using up all the stuff in the cupboards, bulk-cooking and try to achieve 25 NSDs.

Is your signature debt all yours or his as well? You could tell him he is on his own for the month.................( kidding )...

I get the feeling from a few other threads that pushing a non LBM person is never good - we have fingers crossed for OH..

Going by your last comment he doesn't get a choice anyway ( :rotfl:)..want a number..??

  • Before this challenge starts can i reduce my shopping budget to 200 please? I have done a shop today and also realised that i have probably half a farm squirrelled away in the freezer. L2B.x

Done! As for the rolls I always make bricks. Even the dog I live with can't seem to get to grips with them.. I think the bigger you make them the better.. but please don't take my word for it. :)

    That's me set to go.

Basic shop in so I have potatoes, carrots, onions, milk etc

Just ordered a FREE graze box to arrive mid month ;) Thanks for that link!

Friends have until the end of today to confirm bookings... although may meet them on a spend day if they can do it - but not going to jeopordise my 25 NSDs.

    Good luck everyone!!!

    FREE graze box:
Your first box is normally half price, but is free with this code: H2B8CYT

Same as the other ones, you sign up, enter card details and then cancel after your first (free) box.
Just click on the link i gave above, then click on 'Get started now', and enter the code i gave you, in the top of the page, select which box you want, and carry on from there :)

    i love free food!!

If you order your Graze box through TopCashBack you get your first box free and £1.01 cashback. Your second box is half price or you can cancel without penalties :j
I have bought yeast and bread flour to make rolls for packup but am a novice......any tips for easy bread recipes please. Figure this way i can prolong my shopping trips.x

Hi L2B, this is the recipe that I use (cant post link as im a new user  !!)

BBC Good Food recipe "Classic white loaf" recipe

It's delicious and makes a nice loaf, bread buns, pizza bases etc. It's a really simple recipe - if I can do it, anyone can!!

The debt is my CC in my name (though it's used for joint things - shopping, holidays, homeware) As I can afford to pay more than the minimum and there is no fear of bailiffs knocking on the door, Hubby sees this as manageable debt so isn't worried by it. The holiday savings in my sig are for a 40th birthday hol for us both next year and only he is contributing to that till my CC is cleared.

Ok, I will join in but please don't shout at me should/when I fail.

Grocery - £200 (seems a lot for 2 adults and 4 cats but I only shop weekly on Fridays, usually spend £50-£60 a week. Aiming for £40 and there are 5 Fridays in November.)

Only 2 nights out planned - bonfire on Saturday £15 max and carvery meal out with bessie friend one night £7 tops.

Hairdressers on Sat morning - £3 and trip to Wilkos for cat supplies (if they must use litter trays my luxury to myself is litter liners:rotfl:)

    Oh shoot! That's 7 spend days. I've failed before I've even started:eek:

Hubby's wage pays most of the bills, I pay for shopping, entertainment etc. If you'll let me off with 23 NSDs, I'm in:o

Thanks NinjaSavingKat, that's the wake-up call I need. I don't think you're being harsh, just realistic. Plus it's always good to get an objective opinion. I tend to shop out of boredom or if I'm stressed/upset, so I can momentarily make myself feel better. But I do realise that I'm on the way to having a bulging wardrobe with clothes in every hue and style, but NO HOUSE! Now is the time to choose.

I totally agree with you about how he banks/big companies treat consumers and can be quite savvy when I want to be. I suppose needs must now, if I want to be in my own house by the summer. I'm looking to buy something for no more than £100,000, ideally £95,000 (in West Yorkshire).

You are totally right that I am extremely lucky to have this chance to save, so count me in!

Today I have already booked a wet trim (for £7.50) at the hairdressers and I'm seeing friends for lunch (I'll have a snack before I go out for this) and other friends for dinner and a movie (it's half-term so this is the time I tend to catch up with friends). This will be my final big splurge for a while. As I said in the previous post, I've got some food in the freezer that needs eating and a massive stash of tolietries so don't need to the visit the shops until the weekend, just to spend my £25 per week on food. (A question should I draw the £100 I need for food over the month out, so I've got it in my hand and it can act as a physical reminder of my budget?).

Also NinjaSavingKat do tell me more about how you made £175 last month and the £10 a day challenge. I'd like to now generate some cash rather than spending it all!

    ;);););););););););):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

When I looked it into retraining as an EP the pay cut was massive..........maybe I have been teaching longer but in my case it wasnt worth it even when they offered to pay the training fees:eek:

Good luck all you NOvemberites - I'm cheering you on :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

So, I went to the kids halloween party tonight, dressed up, as you do, and I won the coveted award of best dressed adult :j haha!!!! How embarrassing but my prize was a nice bottle of rose and I'll never turn down a free bottle of wine!! (Forget free food, we all need free wine!!) My son also won best costume (I don't think that trumps me, does it!?) so he has a big activity box to keep him entertained for a while. NOvember, you're not gona beat me!!

Now, anyone got any ideas how to get bright green hair dye out of blonde hair!? :o
