Just been to the bank to pay in all the money i could find in the house, which totalled £25. So now i have £0 until Friday. I dont need anything, and there is plenty to eat, so its all good.
I have made a list of possible breakfasts and lunches, all of which are cheap or reasonably cheap, and will be doing the same for snacks.
I am so excited to be starting this (someone remind me of those words at about 12th November- half way through!!) and am really grateful to you Kat for starting it.0 -
Saturday I am going to pop into my natwest branch and deposit all my coins into my account against the overdraft - every bit helps?? I have been meaning to do this for ages!!! and am such a procrastinator...they have one of those coin counting machines so no bagging or commisson - goes straight into the account
Also going to downgrade my account so I no longer pay a charge on it - another thing I had hoped to do but put it off... not even sure why really!!
ps - coins from a jar int he corner of the room that I have been collecting for ages so not in the budget as suchLove reading the oldstyle board...always something to learn!0 -
Hi can I join please? What a fabulous idea for a challenge.
I am aiming for £250 and guessing that I,m number 40.... can I put that at the bottom of my sig?
Good luck everyone.0 -
Sorry, me AGAIN!!
just want to remind everyone that Tesco Clubcard couchers/points get sent out in November, so make sure you use them if you want to/need to/can
Also, you can claim back lost/not used vouchers by looking here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/reclaim-lost-tesco-vouchers#doubleup
The Chrsitmas double exchange starts from 1st November, which may come in handy
I have got £14 of vouchers to use, so will be checking out how to use them in store for my Christmas food shop. Not sure if they double up on normal groceries, anyone know?
Also, if you have loads of clothes that you dont wear/dont fit/you dont want, remember to use ebay to your advantage! I have recently started selling on ebay and have made about £300 so farI am running out of things to sell now though, so will have to stop shortly. Sunday evenings, about 7pm apparently, is the best time for listings to end.

Planning a good batch cooking day and you wont NEED anything.. certainly won't need to go to the shops that often.. you could just check online..this will at least alleviate distraction purchases..
Are you a saver or a DFW...?
Food shopping here is a bit 'different' and shopping around is a necessity. I crossed over from DFW to Saver after completing the Olympic Challenge
I am quite inspired and very tempted by your challenge but I know I would be setting myself up to fail on the NSDs. I'll stick with the spirit and the principals but have to consider that we live in the land that time forgot and we don't have much in the way of on-line shopping and absolutely nothing of the comparison websites that you have in the UK.
We're forced to be old-skool in many respects and so often it's a case of putting in the hard yards to go to numerous shops to get the things you want, choices are more limited and most people don't do one-stop shopping. To get the best deals you gotta go to the butcher and the greengrocer etc. I choose one place most working days to shop at lunchtime or on the way home, rather than saving it all up for one day at the end of the week.
If I know that I'll be needing coffee for example I can look online at only one shop and then might go to the other two other shops through the week to see where has it at the price I am willing to pay - it may be none of them and I may have to repeat the same exercise the following week.
I quite enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the rewards from shopping this way can be vast as I aim to never pay full price for stuff that I use all of the time. I will be shopping from storecupboard as much as possible and will do my best to stay out of the shops but don't want to put a limit on my spending days as it is counter-productive for me.
I am going with a food budget of $400 (200 quids in old money) for two of us. This is at least $120 less than I would ordinarily budget to spend.Mortgage

KiwiSaver - Okay I see what you mean. Question are you even in the UK? You speaketh in dollars which makes me think you are across the water in Kiwi Land?.. Are you sure you don't want a number despite a possible NSD drop due to being in the middle of no-where ( only exception here - the rest of you needn't go getting ideas )....?“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. I am indeed across many oceans in Kiwiland, so while you're all doing your last minute October shopping today, it's 20 minutes past November here already.
If you'll have me I will gladly take a number.Mortgage
