    Glad your having fun though!

ok made soup last night from the chicken carcass from the roast - filled with veggies that were about to turn - huge batch for lunches and whats left on saturday will get frozen. made a sausage and lentil casserole last night and made double so thats in the deepfreeze ready for the november - kind of feel my challenge started yesterday as thats when I got paid...

OH is onboard and wants to lose weight - so that will help kep food costs down!! have worked out his points allowance on the old weightwatchers system and we will follow it together for november... have season tickets to the quins rugby and we have a game on saturday night - youcan take beers in your bag into the ground - so will do that as opposed to buying there and we have a lot at home so wont need to buy anything :)

I'd like to join you but I am most certainly not that hardcore and there are certain bits I can't be doing with, so I'll watch from the sidelines and do my own NOvember 'Lite'.

I don't like counting NSDs because I do like to go to all the supermarkets to check out the specials and it makes no odds to me if I go to the shops 5 times and buy one thing in every shop or if I go on one day and spend it all at once. However, I shall reduce and will only be going to shops to buy essentials and things that I need. I will give up on all beauty and toiletry items but may buy some Christmas and Birthday presents.

I need all the friends I can get so if someone invited me somewhere I would be there is a flash. ;)

    Good luck everyone!

Off to do a last min shop at Tesco this morning. Hoping to pick up enough bits so that I don't have to spend again before 6th, which will be my first planned spend day of NOvember:) I too am going to space them throughout the month.

A quick question though. I am away with bf for the weekend in the middle of the month. The money has been saved for during sept and oct and is sitting in an envelope ready for our weekend away. If I count this weekend as spend days, this will only leave me 2 for the rest of the month, which tbh is impossible. So I was planning on not counting the weekend spends as they have already been 'paid for' out of previous months budgets. I hope this will be ok?

On another note. Everything is looking good to go. I have my budget in place, a list of Xmas presents to be bought which I will be buying on one of my allocated spend days. I have shifted my usual shopping day back one day from weds to tues as I have to spend on a tues (parking at college) can't get out of this plus I have an exam next tues, so can't miss that and too far to walk lol.

I have one birthday in November but as this falls before my first spend day of the month, I will be buying said prezzie today, already have card and wrap:)

Hopefully I can do this, good luck to everyone x

    Good morning :)
I am going to be doing my 1st online shop today, to be delivered for Friday.
The money wont come out of my account until Friday, so i'll note it down then.

I have done my weekly meal plan:
Thursday-Sweet and Sour turkey, prawn crackers, noodles
Friday-Kedgeree (from the batch cooking i did a few weeks ago)
    Saturday-Fajitas
Sunday-Chilli con carne with rice (and some to put in freezer)
    Monday-Pesto/cheese pasta with garlic bread
Tuesday- Pasta bake with extra veg
    Wednesday-Any leftovers fromt he week

I am now less apprehensive and more excited. I am definitely prepared for this. I feel like i really need it :)

Thanks for all the advice re water saving- i have ordered a hippo online and will be googling other ways to save water.

Kettlenic, if you go to the green bar at the top, and click on 'user CP', then on the left hand side, under 'settings & options' there will be an 'edit signature' option. Just click on that, and hey presto :)
  • 15 hours to go!!!

Well a very good frugal morning to you all! I am super excited are you?

I see we have gained some new contenders, some not-so-sure-NOvemberites and some more lurkers.. You are all very welcome and I appreciate any input you all may have...

Well I am meeting a friend tonight who is showing me a wee chinese supply store who sells the most amazing foods that replicate some restauants tastes ( Wagamama's Yasui Katsu Curry for starters ).. so I will be collating a few bits using Octobers leftover money.. I paid a lot in October towards my debt ( clearing a £1000 credit card ) so am happy if you wish to do this as well.. if not already...

NOvember is all about saving Novembers pay, having a clean and tidy bank statement and making extra money wherever you can... I have signed up to the "Make £10 a day in November" challenge.. thank goodness this covers overtime at work cause I am running out of things to sell.....

As much as I hate working weekends and nights shifts this is what is available and can happily say an extra few bucks were added this month because of it. Great way to stay away from the shops as well...

However adding up all my "bits" that I bought in October.. including cheap jars at TK Maxx for my plum jam, a bikini wax ( sorry )... postage on otherwise free items, a friends 30th birthday gift, a shirt from Primark and a few more bits and some petrol it came to a WHOPPING £300...??? WHAT!!!!.. However £175 was made through one thing or the other....phew!

So as determined as I am to get rid of £4029.18 before the end of the year I realize this might well be impossible if I don't curb everything... and sell everything else...

Now a few posts up I wrote directly to GelMC .. here is a brave soul lambasted with the truth who needs our support - really hope she joins in though!

Its our duty to be savvy folks.. there are reasons so many deals are in front of us, why we are pushed to spend.... the interest we all owe is probably holding some banks afloat.. allowing them to push products that aren't viable ( interest only Mortgages anyone? ).. so we need to READ more, educate ourselves on what the difference is between AER and APR and RESEARCH before we buy anything.................cause I guarantee the shiny things in shop windows might not be the quality you desire for the price your about to pay..

Anyway..........waffling aside I welcome any late comers right up until midnight when the clocks turn to NOvember and the final greeting will be displayed..........

    Are you brave enough??
