I am indeed across many oceans in Kiwiland, so while you're all doing your last minute October shopping today, it's 20 minutes past November here already.

If you'll have me I will gladly take a number. ;)

Excellent - you are marked and numbered. WELCOME!! ( already to NOvember)..

Back from shopping. Have £4.97 left but may well nip up coop later and get myself some sweeties in for the month so I am not tempted to splurge any other time:) Bought plenty of milk for the freezer and have stated on a meal plan for the month. Have had a look in the cupboards and there is loads of food that with a bit of effort I can turn into a meal:) plus my freezer could do with a good clear out anyway lol

  • Ok I just ordered this one...

But accidentally added it twice. I wasn't charged anything but added my debit card. I will cancel that as soon as it arrives as well. These things always scare me though...

I will keep you all posted...

  • Hello.................

Another slightly terrified possible challenger. I am mainly here because of this post

I think this is a brilliant idea and highly motivational. At the moment I'm 37 years young and living with my parents in order to save for a mortgage. I've managed to save £3400 so far but I'm also still spending like a demon, as it's the first time for years I've had most of may pay not going on rent/bills/loans and other essentials. This spending is mainly on clothes, toiletries and eating out. How many pairs of boots does a girl need!

I urgently need to curb my spending, as after buying a house in the spring/summer I want to change careers from teaching to Ed Psych but I'll have to study for and pay for an Psychology MSC in order to get on the course. Let's just say I've got my plans in place but all I seem to do is haemorrhage money. Any tips to resist my urge to splurge would be gratefully received!
...................................................................... I am rather tempted by this challenge but a little apprehensive too.

I am in a very similar position Gelmc! I live with my Mum, paid off all my debts in June 2011, in theory had I kept going the same way I would NOW have my deposit.......of course I don't. I don't even know what I spend it on. It is has been a bit of tough year and I do tend to have moments of SPEND and moments of Don't Spend!

I am not back in debt which is great - not gone back to old habits as such however I do have a CC bill to pay - medical treatment plus petrol (Tesco card so get clubcard points)
and not much in the way of savings - about 1600 pounds. I do have expensive tastes and live in London.

However I know I am wasting money in a big huge embarrassing way. I need to pay the fees for my dissertation in Jan and I need to pay for dental treatment - as from Saturday. I do have a 0% card from Barclays that may be employed and I am toying with the idea of a loan in the new year for a deposit BUT I want to see how much I can save in a month and this looks like a good challenge follow to keep my spending on track. I can't do the no spend days, between work pets and Mum I rarely get to the shops as it is and so if I get the chance I'll have to take it.

So yeah, signing up for Cheer leading and lurking duties.

    Good Luck xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Definitely getting into the spirit of MSE again. Made a list of xmas presents and reactivated my topcashback account again. Found BF's present for hopefully 9% CB, babas for 5% plus using Tesco vouchers (bringing down price to £7 from 27) and another one for baba (sale £24 reduced to £10). Also finally had an idea for my parents as they live abroad it's always difficult, but they're getting theatre tickets for their comedy theatre. Sorted

Plus if I order that today I'm still in line with the NOvember challenge and just need stocking fillers in December and to make HM hampers for friends.

I'm ready, bring on NOvember, Good luck everybody:T
