  • Thanks Centipede,, I can understand needing to check in if that was the case but I felt the flights had been changed in advance and that there was no intention of the flight going on time,, I asked at the airport about this when we arrived and was told they wouldn't be able to contact everyone on it to inform them of the delay!

The going out flight was also 5 1/2 hours delayed with no explanation.

The return flight didn't even land in the country we were in until half an hour before we left! If I had wanted a flight that landed at 2.30 am I could have paid a lot less!
  • Hi all I was delayed by 18 hours on a flight from alicante to Luton. We were put up in a hotel for the night can I claim? Something happened to the plane when we were taxiing out towards the runway and a part had to be flown in from another country

I honestly can't remember. They sent me an email apologising for the delay but this was last year and I no longer have the email but I have my boarding pass. We were actually on the plane when the problem occurred we all had to disembark and after 6 hours in the airport we were taken to a hotel

Unless the airline food killed him- I doubt it as this was (IMHO) "Extra ordinary circumstances"

    Hope you sent flowers.

We were delayed nearly 26 hours on a flight with Thomson Airways from Cancun to London Gatwick. We were told by the rep that the flight was delayed at least 24 hours and we would be able to remain at the hotel for an extra day. On boarding the plane the following day the pilot informed us that the delay was due to a crack having been found in one of the windows and had to be repaired, another aircraft was located but this one had a problem with one of the slides. Eventually the crew had over run their time and would not be able to fly out until the next day. We were kept waiting for another two hours on the plane whilst the crew were waiting for the necessary paperwork to fly. On arriving at London Gatwick we were given a letter with details of the delay.

Are we entitled to claim even though we were accomodated the extra day at the hotel ?
  • Hi, I can't see if this has been covered already - apologies if it has. I had a 10 hour delay in 2007 with XL who subsequently went out of business. I assume that I am not in a position to claim?

correct, the claim is from the airline and if the airline no longer exists then no claim
  • My Easy jet flight was delayed by 5 hours, due to the original and the replacement aircraft having technical problems. In the second case it wqas a broken altimeter.
Easyjet say they will not pay compensation because the cause of the problem was the Airport not them

    Was the cause "extraordinary"?
