It is TC's latest BS excuse to fob you off. Unfortunately you will have to take legal action for recovery of your compensation, Forget the CAA, they will do preciseley nothing. If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Anyone who has had a delay on a Virgin flight should make a claim. The process is very simple, down load the form from their website and complete it. Nothing else is required. I have today received £470 x 5 for a our family group that was on a flight to Cuba in April 2009 which was delayed on take off for 5 hrs.
I originally tried to claim via EU Claims the company that is so often recommended but they bounced my claim because none of us had our boarding passes. After the latest ruling decided to try again straight to the airline. They did not request any supporting evidence.
I thought my claim might have been rejected due to the fact that we had booked as part of a deal arranged through a travel agent, I thought I might have to claim via the agent. Virgin have got their act together and it is very straightforward.0 -
I booked a holiday via a travel agent but claimed directly from the airline (Virgin). They have paid up through a very straight forward process. Have you tried to going straight to the airline?0
