Barclaycard

Hi,
I have a Barclaycard I am claiming off and without any problems, I recieved the statements today, but they sold the debt to another company in March this year. I am re-paying this to the new company at an agreeable rate, but I have a few queries about charges on the account prior to it being sold.
There is a £40 charge listed as "OUT OF ORDER CHARGE"
a) What is this!
b) Can I claim it back?
At the point the debt was sold, there are two other charges
"CHRGOFF PURCH FEES of £79"
"CHRGOFF UNPD FIN CH of £35.99"
a) What on earth are these?
b) Again, can I claim for these??????
As always, the help is most appreciated

As you may read on the previous page, they did exactly the same thing to me and to others from the looks of it - seems like Barclaycard is one of the worst to deal with on the whole charges reclaiming story, this looks more like a tactic to confuse customers than anything else.
Anyway, I did begin court proceedings asking for the difference between the amount of money I asked and what they gave me back.. They have to respond by 4 May, and no news yet. But what I do find interesting is that today I received a letter from them where they are reducing my credit limit -not a lot, it used to be £690 and they reduced it to £650, but still it seems more than a coincidence, since they've never done this before
Thanks for the reply. So if i write back to them saying that I am not happy with this amount. What did you put in the letter that you wrote to them? Hope you dont mind me asking.

If anyone can provide me with a little bit of guidence I would be very grateful!
I had a barclaycard credit card while living in Leamington spa as a student and when I left the place in July 2004 I stupidly forgot to change my address details.
I thought I had a £0 balance on the card but boy was i wrong.
I moved to Leeds and I received a letter from a debt collectors claiming money for that card for £126 and found out that the balance left over on the credit card when I left Leamington Spa was around £15.
I checked my credit report and the card defaulted in mid 2005.
My questions are:
1. Can I recover any of the £126? Are the charges justified?
2. More importantly is there any way of getting the default removed from my credit report?
Many thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Hi
I am claiming £700's worth of charges from barclaycard. I recieved a letter today from barclay stating the following -
"In your correspondence you have outlined a legel argument which you say supports your view. As i am sure you will appreciate Barclaycard is aware of all the information you have drawn to our attention. I must inform you however, that we disagree with your legal analsis.
Putting the above to one side, as a goodwill and without any admission of liabillity, I am prepared to credit your account with the difference between the charges that you have incurred and the £12 fee. Please be advised that from the 1st August 2006, Barclaycard reduced its fee to £12 following publication of the statement by the OFT. The would amount to £271.00"
What do I do now will I just accept, is this correct or should I continue with the claim? i WOULD BE THANKFUL FOR ANY ADVICE GIVEN
Thanks

It's a personal decision. If you decide to take it further, you should get the whole charge refunded. I would continue and get the lot, but it's up to you.0 -

Posted my first letter requesting my statements on the 12th April.
This was sent first class recorded and so far according to the Royal Mail track and send section of the website, has still not been signed for!!!
Also the cheque for £10 has not been cashed.
Should I follow this up and ask for some acknowledgement from Barclaycard?Cheers, Rob

so
Stick to your guns!!!!
I have recieved several similar letters from barclaycard and capital one. This is a standard letter to see if you will fight them all the way.
Remember the OFT ruling only says that they consider charges over £12 to be unlawful it DOES NOT state that £12 is a fair charge.
If you have any doubt look through the success post and you'll see other people who have been successful against credit cards.
If you follow it all the way using martins advice you should win, remember no bank has yet to successfully defend their charges and until they do your on a winner
Just take a deep breath and say they are just trying to settle for less, then send you response.
