Just a query, I always pay off more than my minimum amount on Bcard every month as I have standing order every 2 weeks and pay money in at the bank too (just as they advise in the statements) but i still end up over my credit limit by a few pounds cos of their charges after interest has been added making me over the limit, and its a vicious cycle. I always wondered why they don't say to pay an even bigger minimum payment so you dont go over the limit because of the interest?? Anyways sorry, can you still make a claim even though you're over the limit is my actual question?:o

    Thanks!

They refunded 100% of what I claimed, and this included the full £12 charges - not just the difference. Oh, and the interest!
  • I also reclaimed all my charges from Barclaycard, got the difference between some older charges of £20 and £12 first. I sent the next letter saying 'Thank you but I would like all of them back please' and they refunded the full amount + 8% interest.

They took it off my balance but that was ok as I just want to be free of the evil card but they did reduce my credit limit by half, so if you do actually still use the card be prepared for a reduction on your credit limit.

Now why didn't I take any notice of the
    second part of that quote!!???
  • as I understand they are deemed legal?

Already been said, of course you can reclaim. Though, the CC companies would prefer you didn't know that. ;)
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
  • Hello

I have heard that there is a interest calculator somewhere, could someone point me in the right direction.

Good luck with reclaiming and let use know how you get on :)

Anyone know where I can find (hoepfully) a template to chase a response from a card?? I wrote to Barclaycard in November asking for my statements, and nothing has happened - how do I approach them now?? They ahve banked the cheque, so I know they had the letter.....

  • Hmmm join the club, I asked for mine in June and never got them......Have written a couple of times since and nothing, I now have a very very overdue CCA request and no response from them......

I wrote to Customer Services on Pavillion Drive and I sent it special delivery and know they received the letters but still nothing.....
  • Okay thanks to martin and his brilliant article about getting your money back i've managed to reclaim nearly £600 on my visa.

However I only had about £240 left to pay off so imagine my visa actually owes me around £360. How do i go about getting this money off my visa account and in cold hard cash? would it be a case of just withdrawing the cash from a cash machine or getting them to transfer it into my bank account?

I would just use the card for day to day purchases like food or petrol or whatever until it was used up ... (though I guess it depends how long it would take you to spend that much on items you would be buying anyway)

There are fees for taking money out via cash machines. Not sure how much though.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • Hi

If you call the company they will send you a cheque for the credit, you can then pay this into your current account. This is the 'safest' option rather than starting to use the card again. I personally would find it to easy to get carried away :) Plus it only takes one purchase to many and your attracting interest etc all over again.
