I got my file back today and from aug 06 the charge drops to £12 instead of £20 can I claim for them?
Also on my first statement containing a charge there is one for £40 with a description of 'out of order charge' any ideas? can i add that to my list?0 -
Hi
I dont know what the out of order charge is lol but I would try claiming it back anyway - they can only say no. From my experience with Barclaycard (I have successfully claimed back in full mine and my husbands fees from them including the £12 fees) write the first letter - they will send offer for the difference between the £20 and £12 charges, send 2nd letter and they will refund the whole amount (including £12 charges). I found the whole process with Barclaycard surprisingly quick and very easy!!
Hope this helps.
Good luck with your claim.0 -
I settled a barclaycard account in dec 2005 (which had been open since 2002) over the years I rcvd loads of charges. I recently sent them a cheque to get my old statements. unfortuantely I cannot find my old account number. I gave them my name, address, do.b date of setting up and settling account etc but they have sent the cheque back to say they cannot find trace of my account and as it is settled they may have deleted the records. i rang them yesterday on the number on the letter to find this a dead number. I then rang another number where they searched the system (still couldnt find the details) and told me to write to an address in northampton (where they had sent the cheque and my ltter back from) I was told there was no one I could speak to and I would have to re-write.
does anyone know if this is legal - i thought they had to keep records for 6 years?? Thanks0 -

write to the info addresses (see main MSE site for list), with your date of birth, and any addresses you may have used for the account..
they should still have details on file (not sure, but think its a legal requirement?).
send by recorded post, too!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

If you have a negative balance which the credit card company have sold on to a debt collecting agency. Where would any recovered charges be paid to??? Would they keep it themselves, pass it on to the debt collecting agency, or pay me?0
