  • FIIIIIIIIIIIINALLY! They arrived yesterday! No cheque with my statements though, some people in this thread received cheques for the £12 refunds as a means to fob them off early by Capital One!

I'm just wondering though, do I add charges 6 years from the date that I first asked for my statements or 6 years from today's date or what? Don't want a claim to be rejected at court because I'm trying to claim money I'm not entitled to.

I sent my first letter with recorded delivery on the 11th Feb, delivery was confirmed on the 12th and I finally got my statements through on friday the 20th March. So around 5 weeks. They took their time about it!

So does anyone know about the date from which you count back 6 years? Is it 6 years back from today or 6 years from the day you first sent the letter asking for statements?
  • Wow! I've just been through my statements and it looks like I'm owed £540!!! Thats without adding the interest!
Capital One received my letter on the 12th Feb so I'm counting 6 years back from then as I can squeeze an extra £20 late fee out of them then!

Something strange I've noticed from my statements though, it looks like they never closed my account when I asked them to after clearing it all those years ago as it has statements for every month up until March 2009, says:

    Credit Limit £200
    Balance £37.97

Does this mean they owe me £37.97 as well? I can't imagine it being £37.97 that I owe them as surely they'd have contacted me some time within the last 6 years to ask for it?
Anyway, I'm off to calculate how much interest these cowboys owe me too!:rotfl:

Just a quick question....again....You say your account was supposed to be closed,so when you sent off for your statements, did you have your credit card number or did you just send off all your details from when you had the card...name,DOB etc???

I went through all my old things trying to find a Capital One statement, couldn't find one but found the actual card itself! Your account number is the same 16 digit number on the front of your card. That number along with my name was enough to get all my statements sent to me.
If you can't find your number then you should be able to ring them and give them all your details, name, D.O.B, postcode etc and they should be able to find your account and give you the number.

I rung them before sending my letter, but apparantly I wasnt on their system,so when I sent the letter off,I included all the details I could, I paid the balance in full 2 years ago & never used the card again!! Im just keeping my fingers crossed they have some record of this....somewhere!!!
