we have had one charge of £12 from capital one, i actually used the card and took it to it's limit and over by 21p! we pay the card in full each month and generally use it to pay the council tax.

    could i reclaim this £12?! i know it isn't a huge sum!!!

I say take them to the cleaners. But that's just me!
Remember that it'll take a LONG time, every time you send a letter back and forth between yourself and capital one it takes a further 6 - 8 weeks. I started my reclaiming mission in February and still ended up accepting an offer that was 30 short of what I was asking for which I still haven't got! It all depends how badly you want the money, for me it was more of a revenge mission as they were so horrible when I was the one owing them money!

I phoned the Ombudsman to ask what was going on with my claim, they said that Capital One had received my acceptance letter and that they had 6 weeks to return the money... The deadline for the 6 weeks was this past Monday.
So what now? Does anone have the phone number for the specific department of Capital One to deal with reclaims? And if I phone them, can Capital One now take another 6 weeks to get my cheque out? They really do take the pi$$ with dragging the whole process out as long as possible, 10 months and counting...
  • Hi all,

I sent my acceptance letter back to Capital One a few weeks ago (dealing direct with them) - does anyone know how long it takes to get the cheque back from them?

    Many thanks,
    pippitypip
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D

  • Hi All,

This is my first post on the forum, so please forgive me if my question has been answered elsewhere.

I am about to send a letter before action to capital one for the sum of £192 (excluding interest.)

The credit card was taken out in 2009 and closed in 2011 but still I managed to rack up these charges regrettably.

What is the current stance with Capital One?

do they go right to court, or is it likely that they will settle within this 14 days?
