  • Thanks for your replies guys. I decided to take the offer. It's only 30ish short, and I can't be bothered to wait however many weeks/months more it'd take to squeeze it out of them!
I signed and sent off my settlement form yesterday, so I'll post again when I actually receive my cheque!

Hi I have been looking for another thread for ages to see if it could help me but I can't find another so far, so could someone tell me if there is a template somewhere saying thanks but no thanks or do I just write a short letter myself? I don't want to get anything wrong since it has taken me ages to get this far! I have written to Cap 1 requesting £153 and I received a letter from them offering £60 last week, however I am going to try and reclaim the full amount-I was thinking about just accepting the £60 but its my money at the end of the day!

    Thank you in advance

  • What do you do if Capital One has cashed your cheque for £10 and not sent any statements/list of charges? The 40 days will be up on 18/10/09.

Do they usually send out lots of statements or just a couple of pieces of paper with a list of charges on them? Do you think they'll use the excuse of the postal strike? The cheque was cashed way back in the beginning of September.
  • teenie d, look in the reclaim section, main MSE site- should be a link in 1st ppost of this thread..

i think its the 2nd (follow up) letter, though not sure.
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

  • Bump - can someone who has had their statements/charges from Cap 1 please let me know how they send them/how long they took to arrive?

It's the 19th today, so the 40 days are up. I guess I have to lodge a complaint to the ICO. Is there a template letter for this?

    Hi Exnitotinequeen

I had the same problem, they are not quick at sending out your statements. I gave them a phone and I was sent out my charges 2 days later. You will need to phone in between 8.30am (or could be 9)-5pm to speak to the relevant section. Good luck

  • I have today received my statements from Capital One, I sent a letter to them enclosing a cheque for £10.00 which was cashed over a month ago. I then rang them to ask what was going on, they told me the statements were sent the day before I rang. Just checked the postmark on the letter it was only posted yesterday...I got a funny feeling these people are not going to play ball.

What made me laugh though was included with my statements was my credit agreement and all the terms and conditions, including a letter stating that they thought that all their charges are fair and reasonable!!!

I've just worked out my charges @ £160.00 with interest @ £58.78 totalling £218.78, i'm just preparing the letter with interest to send to these lovely people...I will keep everyone posted...

How long do I wait for Capital One to pay me?

They have had my settlement letter signed and confirmed for 2 weeks now and not a peep...

They don't have to "playball" look back through the last 2 pages of the thread regarding my own case. They originally offered me 25% of what I was trying to claim - with a little patience and the help of the FO I managed to get £7 short of my original claim..
