  • Sent my request on monday, got the list of charges yesterday. Am i right in saying that

    a) I can only reclaim Overlimit and Late Fees

    b) I can use the wee calculator that martin put in the bank article to calculate the intrest on EACH charge or is it ALL charges ADDED together

Style financial service (royal bank of scotland) and Halifax Credit card have not responded to me yet, i am impressed with capital one though.

    Any adivce would be awesome

    thanks

    Capital One - Victory!

RBS - Cannot claim as it is a store card

Yes, with a real big thanks to Ashlee & Jill for their time in convincing me to stay with it :T :T :T

Claimed £815.61 inc interest on 14th June
Offered £226 on 20th June rejected offer on 21st June

Commenced MCOl action for full amount on 23rd July
Cap 1 acknowleged on 31st July
Responded with offer of full amount on 8th August.

What a letter from Cap 1 sorry you feel etc, conditions were known to you etc however as a gesture of goodwill & so as not to waste court time blah blah we will pay you the full amount.

Aren't we the good guys in saving court time & giving you all this money.

Ok I was irresponsible but that doesn't negate the over charge issue & those countless damn telephone calls in the middle of my evening meal .

Now for the next claim on my second Cap 1 account.

My advice to anyone else claiming is stick with it cus they cave in at the end

    Dave

They normally pay up when they send the letter. Dont you have online or telephone access to your account?

Then, when you file with MCOL, they back down and give you the lot.

Mind you, that was before the OFT shambles, which credit card companies are abusing.
they dont have an online banking service for credit cards, ill have to look into the telephone access, thanks
    Lloyds tsb. Won 913pounds
Capital One Bank . Won 806.18 pounds.(awaiting cheque)
G E Money . MCOL CLAIM FOR 330 Pounds.
  • Jill,
Good to hear from you & that you are still looking in on Cap 1 postings. Wonder if Ashlee's cheque has arrived yet, still he's still on his hols wondering about the letter on his doormat.

No I've not spent the money I got back from First Direct £1440 its in the building society, once I have the the 2 cheques from Cap 1 ( the second account also) I intend to sell my car & buy a new one without it going on finance :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Take care

Look forward to hearing from you again

  • Hello. everyone....Now, after I requested £1083, late payment charges from Capital one, I was offered £430 which included £30 interest, I have turn it down, and wrote saying I would accept £900....... Today I received a letter saying NO, you can have the £430 but no more...'Our fees are both fair and LEGAL, as you know we have sold your debt to Cabot, and you need to contact them to arrange replayment. Well, I have been repaying Cabot since December 2006, BUT I am asking for my charges to be repaid up to September 2006...even though I am replaying Cabot, surely I can still claim back my previous years charges, can't I ?, In this situation can I still take Capital One to Court?..... On the bottom of the letter it said 'I have the option to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service '!!!! But their offer to me of £430 is still open ..... so just sign the form and we can save the courts valueable time' !! IF I accepted this offer I woud still own them £653 in late payments !!!any comments gladly recieved from you people..Lol....I am quite happy to take this to Court if I have to.......many thanks......Lily ;)
  • I would still continue with your claim against Cap1 in that you were wrongfully charged by Cap 1. Stick it out a & get the full amount then sort out the other company .
Whatever is left over is then yours to keep.
The Phrase wasting the courts time is a ploy to make you think they were correct.

    Go for the full amount.

I have had problems communicating by telephone with Cap1 . Basically they won't . I have had lots of delaying letters usually "thisisoffer "accept it" Started MCOL and received judgement . They seemed to ignore the 21 days which others have experienced .
3rd time lucky re phone call today Got through and very polite person who ascertained that Judgement only reeived yesterday ( strange) and outstanding amount will be paid by cheque This will take 7-14 working days but will arrive . I do not intend to inform MCOL until money cleared in bank. But this looks like a success
