I posted my request to Capital One on the 21st Jan and had letter off them yesterday making me an offer. Did you send your letter by recorded delivery?

That was my mistake and they have claimed that it takes up to 3 weeks to process, its no problem I can send them again and this time I will assume nothing and make sure they go recorded.

Keep on at them. I accepted their goodill gesture of £200, only because if I decided to threaten them with court I'd work myself up so much and worry. My account has been closed for about 2-3 yrs so anything I managed to get off them was a bonus. Send the letter again by recorded delivery. I'm sure they'll get back to you within the 14 days. Good luck

I am currently in the process of working out all my charges plus interest in order to make a court claim against Capital One. Instead of sending statements, they sent me a letter listing all the charges. They also mentioned in the letter that they have refunded £10 but didn't give a date. How would I incorporate this refund when calculating the total interest, if I don't know the date? If I knew the date of the refund how would I adjust the calculation of interest? Many Thanks
  • capital one didn't reply to my letter to ask for my charges back in the fortnight i gave them, i then sent a reminder giving them 7 days before court proceedings. they replied after these 7 days were up with an offer for £152 (claimed for £282). i have filled out the moneyclaim info, just need to process payment.

do i need to let them know i am rejecting their offer or shall i just continue with the court?

    thanks

  • Hi Guys

Thought I would give you a quick update with my claim against Capital One. I made an earlier post mid January about them having passed my account over to a company called Frederickson International.

Needless to say, I hear nothing from Capital One in response to my letter asking for a refund. However on Saturday, I received a letter from the DCA, showing £96 credit to the balance they are seeking.

I called them and was advised that Capital One had issued a “refund” and that they’d wrote to me on the 30th Jan. (I haven’t received this).

I then called Capital One, who clarified that the statements had been mailed to me, and they’d made a partial refund of the charges. He was going to send all correspondence again to me which would take 7-10 working days.

Now I find it very strange that 2 different mailings (on different dates) from Capital One have not reached me, and I await these with interest.

Considering the charges I have paid in the past will more than clear the outstanding £350 balance, I don’t really want to accept this partial refund in full settlement, as it seems from other posters on this forum, that this is a delaying tactic on their behalf.

As soon as I have the statements, I’ll be writing again to them!

    Thanks for all your help!!!
  • My Capital one bank charges are £554, they offered me the same thing as what seems to be happening to other capital one bank customers which was to reduce charges to £12 equal to £190 though when i worked it out it was more like £218

they also said that I asked them to 'remove the default notice from your credit file' - I didnt actually do this as I havent defaulted on my credit card.

obviously using a template they just sent me a template letter.

i have send a second letter including interest this time told im not happy with the offer pointed out the error then told them that i would be happy to have the account closed as its currently stand at £500.

not looking to make any additional profit as the debt freedom im sure will be fantastic!!!
