What do I do know as this is a ridiculously small amount. They have now placed my overdrawn account in the hands of a solicitor (who sent me the last letter)...
HELP needed :
Presume it's Jeremy Sutcliffe Solicitors. Thank them for their offer but tell them that you do not accept it and will be taking the next step of issuing a claim in the county courts. (presume you haven't already done so). Also reply to the YB letter and tell them that this account is in dispute (again presuming this is the account you are claiming charges on). Go over to YB/Clydesdale thread on Consumer Action Group. A lot of people on their have received these £200 offers. Read through the threads. Good luck.0 -
Just a quick update on my claiming my bank charges back from the clydesdale. About a month ago I was still trying to find out my old A/C number with no luck. I phoned various departments from numbers obtained off here all trying to demand where I had got their number from. I then phone one of the financial managers who had a fit that I had his number. I explained that the branch would not give me any info on my old A/C. He phoned my local branch immedietly ( I know as he first phone me back by accident snapping is that the ********* Branch) Anyway they phoned me back and within 10 minutes I had all my details. However they said they no longer held my statement info as it was now closed. I phoned the FOS and explained the situation and they are now handling the case. I have had one standard we are investigating the case letter but they only have untill the 19th July so fingers crossed. I do not know what my charges were but what bit of info that might be helpful is this. I claimed £1500 off BOS through the FOS they made me an offer of £1080. I phone BOS to decline as I said I would go back to FOS as I still did not know my bank charges they then informed me it was £1686.00 and was I willing to compromise. So the banks obviously do not want the FOS on their case.Fire up the Quattro!0

Hi folks,
It's been a little while since I last posted so its time for an update.
I used the online calculator (many many thanks to the site for that!!).....and wrote to the Clydesdale for my money....over £6000. The bank wrote back with the usual two finger salute....SOOOOO....I wrote to the FO and received a very nice letter informing me that one of the FO peeps are taking my case.....
I have always vowed to take this all the way to court and if I don't get any joy with the Ombudsmans intervention then I will do so....
I just wanted to say a big big thanks to everyone on this site as without it I would have been totally clueless about reclaiming...........and can I just say an especially big thanks to Edinburghlass as the info you provided to all is amazing.......0 -

..and tick the "we will defend all of this claim" box.
I've only discovered this site now!
I live in England, and all my charges were incurred whilst living down here, although the branch is in Edinburgh where I used to live. I have all my statements, so sent my branch the standard 1st and 2nd letter two weeks apart, then filed a claim with moneyclaim after 2 weeks.
It's only for £70 plus interest=£100 - I can't find any posts about the Clydesdale defending in court - any advice!?0 -
Has there been any success stories with the clydesdale Bank in Scotland. I got my statesments back - no problems - 1st letter sent for return of money - they responded saying that I signed a contract and ifi'm not happy i should complete a complaints form and if I didn't they would presume that i was happy and forget it.0

Hi everyone, :T :T :T :T
I am delighted to tell you that I have just received a pay out from the Clydesdale bank by going through the financial ombudsman. Because I was in Scotland and my claim was for over £750 I would have had to go through a solicitor to try to take them to court, which would incur some cost. However, Edinburghlass advised me to go to the financial ombudsman. :j :j
I was claiming £3363.00 + Interest, they send me a cheque for £3385.00, which I was quite happy with as if I went to court I would have only been able to claim 5 years. Which would have worked out less, if I re calculated.
So I am happy, THANK YOU MARTIN and thank you Edinburgh lass
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE: wink:0 -
Hi there
After been successful claiming charges of £2700 from the HSBC bank i have sent my letters off today requesting details from the YORKSHIRE BANK. I am alittle scared as it doesn't seem as easy as HSBC. They seem to br fighting more!!!
Does anybody have the Leeds telephone number and address as it may be quicker writing derect to them rather than going through my local branch.
Also want to know if anybody as been succesful without going to court. 'The thought really scares me' and didn't have to do this with the HSBC.
Thanks for any help0
