but in view of the amount of your claim you are probably best to put your claim through the FO.0 -
Just wondered if anyone had some advice?
I have been trying to reclaim my bank charges from Clydesdale Bank for a couple of months now. So far, I havent even managed to get a list of these charges from them as they are taking ages! Recently they wrote to me saying that they are aware that they should have the information to me within 40 days but its taking longer. This was about 2 - 3 weeks ago and whenever I call them to chase this I dont seem to get anywhere!
Any advice?Loan 7.2% APR- £3187.00
Barclaycard 27.5% APR - £967.00
C.card 4% APR - £2000
VERY SCARY STUFF!

Do a search for 'manual intervention' on this forum and you will find lots of info.and that they have 40 days to provide me with bank statements..........do i just sit tight and wait now?
Yes, wait for the 40 days.0 -
Still no statements so I phoned Leeds AQU.Guess what I was told today on the phone?
a) your statements are in the post
b) we haven't got your statements ready, be another 3-4 weeks
c) who are you, and what do you want?
yip, your'e right, b.
Even tho' 3 weeks ago I was told 2-3 weeks. Now it seems they "underestimated the demand" and as the older statements are held on microfiche or magnetic tape it's not so easy to just print them off and send them, but, hurrah, a new all singing all dancing wonder of modern science is about to be unleased. I can't remember the name but it has a 6 in it, it will be up and running by the end of May and ALL the backlog will be cleared by mid-June. (maybe) Meanwhile I have been "advised" to write a letter of complaint to the Leeds address to run in tandem with my request which may (or may not) speed up the process.
Guess I'll be back here in a months time to update you all on CB's latest excuse(s).
BTW I asked why they are having all this bother when every other bank seems to be handling the procedure so much better. The reply, we're not a big bank and don't have the same resources.forever hopeful0 -
SUCCESS WITH CLYDESDALE BANK!!
You'll be glad too know that I have been successful in reclaiming nearly £3400 worth of unfair bank charges with the clydesdale bank - so it can be done.
I went down the route of the usual template letters, they came back eventually and said no, I replied saying I was going to the Financial Ombudsman which I did and today I received 2 cheques totally over £3400!! cant believe it.
So there you are, it is possible for the clydesdale bank to refund these illegal charges, although the letter they sent was basically trying to say it was really my fault and I should have looked after my account better blah blah blah - they then paid me back the WHOLE amount including all the interest that I had calculated thanks to the spreadsheet available.
No need to go down the court route, just go to the financial ombudsman get them involved and then hey presto a nice little cheque will appear!!
Good Luck everyone.

Hi Cheekysmiler,
I've had the same problem with clydesdale bank, so I did send my stuff of to the financial ombudsman, Got a letter from them last week saying they have to request to clydesdale bank for more info, which might take forever.
Just wondering how long did it take for them to recover your money, when did you send your stuff of to them first.

hi there
It didnt take long at all, maximum a couple of weeks from sending my initial claim form off to the FO. I wrote to the clydesdale bank telling them that I was going down the route of the FO and they then wrote back within days telling me that they were re-opening my case and would be investigated further (not like there was anything to be investigated!!)
I think it also depend on what stage the FO is at, they tend to run a couple of weeks behind due to volume of mail. But if you have sent off the Forms to FO it will take a couple of weeks to come through.
Good Luck!!

Hi there again
Thanks for that information cheeky minder and edinburghlass, I was not sure should I wait for FO, or crack on ahead to see ma solicitor, because it has been quite a nightmare, because my claim is for £4130 and I live in scotland. So It will cost me a bit to go to court.
Think I might wait a couple of weeks after reading your threads.
Forever hopeful, I'll keep u posted
