  • Hi,

does anyone have any success with the Cb for re claming their charges. I have reached the stage where i have sent them the letter wanting the money back or taking them to court. they still have i think ten days to respond to me.

Has anyone got any charges from them ?

I am claiming 680 including interest.?

What should i expect as a response and how should i progress it. Has anoyne taken them to court in Scotland yet ?

What should i expect next anyone been there before and could advise me on how to proceed?
    thanks:confused:

I read they don't quibble on claims under £2,000. Sorry don't know any more, but someone will be along to give more advice soon, I am sure.

I VERY strongly advise that where this bank is concerned you actually move to the last of martins steps and go to' further resources for help ' The Consumeractiongroup as these are one of the most difficult banks to take on and it is far from just a simple process with them , as is made out .
If you make a mistake in the early stages then you are going to have one long hard slog ahead of you.If you are taking them on then at least read around this forum in CAG to see what you are going to be up against and get the information you will need as early as possible.

This is NOT to put you off claiming , far from it , just to make sure it's done in the correct way right from the beginning .
Wish I could stop editing EVERY post I make

This Might Interest Clydesdale Bank Claimers.
I claimed for £1065 in total and detailed each charge on a spreadsheet.
However I had acted "dumbly" by including all the charges they had already refunded etc. Also added in all service charges as well as penalties.
I have received the Standard Letter with 50% Value Check for £532.50.

I will be accepting but note that maybe they are now blanket offering 50% without thoroughly checking !!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know if cashing the cheque does absolve them for the other 50%. Ie can you cash it but send them another letter telling them you are still taking them to court for the balance ?

Ive done the same. Claimed for £1250, but received a cheque for £627. However I claimed £1700 initially for 6 years back, but Scottish Law only allows 5 years, so they have recalculated mine correctly. Initially I was just going to hang onto cheque and persue them for other half, but decided id be aswell cashing the cheque and pursue them anyway.

Their letter does say that if you cash the cheque then you accept their offer as final settlement, but not sure how binding that it. Worth a try pursuing them anyway!!!
  • reclaiming services charges from clydesdale too but these charges only seem to be applied when I have gone beyond my overdraft limit so I therefore considered them to be penalties. Have been charged £22.50 per time a few years ago and £25 per time in recent years. Only sent my 1st letter last week so will wait for their response. anyone else claimed for service charges from them?
  • I noticed that it says in Scotland we can only claim the last five years, before I noticed this I had already sent the first letter to the Clydesdale asking for the last six years statements and they sent them back to me. I then done my calculations and sent off next letter with my calculations asking for a refund however, they have refused my request.

I was about to send the next letter stage four, to ask one more time for my charges to be refunded less 25%. I was also going to attach once again my list of charges etc. However, should I now change it to the last five years and not six that I have already asked for?

Should I just carry on regardless or will it be obvious by this mistake that I don’t know what Im doing by asking for the six years instead of the five?

    Could someone please advice me?

I have done exactly the same but I think I'll just carry on. Would need to change claim to five years charges if got to court stage I think. Or,does anyone know if it would be better to change to last five years when sending next letter?

I did exactly the same but Clydesdale actually said you can only claim for 5 years, recalculated and offered me half of the amended amount.

So I wouldnt worry about it.

Can I get some help on what to do please!

I sent my letters to clydedale bank and I'm still awaiting my bank statements, They are near the 40 days end and I have just got a letter saying that they are running behind schedule and I won't get my bank statements for another couple of weeks.
I called to ask about time scales and they just didn't know cause they are so busy.

But I did ask for my £10 to be refunded which they said they will do.

What should I do now. I haven't got my statements to work out how much they owe me. Should I just wait or whats the next step?

I have been with the bank for 20 years and on personal basis they have always been really nice but I'm scared they might close my other joint account which has my mortgage coming off it.

Can the close all my account or just the one I'm asking about checking the charges over ??

    thanks very much in advance
