Contract Ended - Still 30days notice

Hi
My contract with Vodafone ended last week and I assumed I could swap to a sim only set up straight away as the contract has ended.

However they have told me I need to give 30 days notice - how can this be the case when the contract has ended?

Thanks

Because the what you deem as a contract is a minimum term commitment, so yes 30 days notice is required.

You could have swapped straight away by giving the notice 30 days before the minimum term expired.

The contract is open ended - you wouldn't be happy if you wanted to stay with them and they simply cut you off at the completion of your minimum months!

This still doesn't explain why 30 days notice is required as there is no any logical explanation behind this.

The 30 days notice is the way these open ended contracts can be brought to an end.

Are you saying people should be allowed to break a contract at a moment's notice? Hardly fair on the supplier.

Have you not tried to give some logical explanation for why the OP's assumption was incorrect?

And no, I don't see anything unfair, especially if I just switch to a cheaper tariff.

I have not checked this, but I think I can switch my energy supplier or my landline with a shorter notice (if any).

No, you'll be charged for 30 days even if you port out instantly.

The explanation is that the op shouldn't have "assumed" how the contract ended.

You should always read and understand a contract before clicking the button to be bound by it!

I agree, but it is not what you actually said or even meant.
You quoted the OP that was surprised by the notice required, not by the fact that their contract wasn't terminated. Your post did explain why it wasn't terminated, but failed to explain why the notice was required.
