Hi I am not sure I am doing this in the right place, so please forgive me if its wrong. I am at the letter five stage of reclaming my bank charges, and the letter is asking me to insert the courts name, I do not know the courts name yet as I have not started court proceedings, What am I supposed to put in the letter ?

    Thanks
  • Hi
My husband has just received all his statements for the last six year from NatWest bank. On checking these there were various charges. 1. UNARRGD BORROW FEE, 2. PAID REFERRAL FEE, 3. PER PERIOD & 4. CHARGES ranging from £10 - £90! Are all these re-claimable? Aarrgh!

If you don't understand what the banks abbreviations are please phone them to check but read this thread for what is claimable.

  • Hi,

I have a Barclays student account and am charged a £10 refferal fee for going over my overdraft. Over the last 6 years this has happened 30 times approx. Should I still reclaim the money back? Their argument could be that the £10 fee is below what OFT require (£12) and others are being charged £20. Should and can I still reclaim all monies? I also have an overdraft with them of £1,100, will this be canceled should I claim?

What about my credit cards, I have chaged account numbers with the same credit card due to theft of card and have since been issued with a different account number, can I still reclaim ALL previous charges? Is it worth claiming for £150?

    Regards,

This figure was recommend only by OFT for credit cards.

All banks can and some do close accounts or call in overdrafts so you have to be aware this can happen.

    Regards,

Yes you can claim on closed cards or an old card number.

  • Hiya,

I'm a bit apprehensive and nervous at the mo. I asked what they procedure was on here when I filed my moneyclaim against Nationwide and alas I was told to wait.

I filed the claim on 29/01 and it was acknowledged on 31/1. Under judgement it says start but afetr looking around on the site, it says the defendant (Nationwide) has 28 days to respond.

What am I exactly waiting for? I'm nervous and scared in case the bank decide to continue with the court case and I'll have to go and defend myself.

Can someone explain what happens here on in and rough timelines? I just don't know what to expect?

    Sorry for being a pest!!!
  • As its unusual to get a cheque I'd keep it to one side and reply that you accept this in part payment with prejudice and will be persuing them for the rest.

thanks for that. my only other questions for now are, how would i word this into my template letter?
and would i cash the cheque or wait for the next response?

    Hi,
I have just noticed that I have been charged £12 late payment fee as I should have made a repayment on my CC 4 days ago. Can anyone please advise whether this is lawful or not? I have already made the repayment now and was effectively only 4 days late.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just wondering, I got a reply from HSBC yesterday morning (bog standard "we are looking into your complaint blah blah blah). When I send off the LBA do I send it to my account holding branch again or do I send it off to the "service quality team" with the reference number they have given me?
    Bank charges reclaimed: HSBC £1990

    2007 Competition Challenge: Target £150
So far...£373.48 (MS Office 2007 Professional Edition) and a rizla tin

  • Hi Guys

Had a spot of money trouble in December and January, got paid before christmas and then got paid at the end of January so was a good 6 and a bit weeks so ran a bit dry when some bills came in and therefore couldn't get paid and subseqently got charged.

I totalled the charges and these came to £136, using the template letter on this site I wrote off to Alliance and Leicester requesting a refund. I received their reply yesterday stating that their charges have been applied corectly in line with their terms and conditions etc... and that they will not repay the charges.

    What shall I do now??

    Cheers in advance
