  • Thanks NickMack!!

Still unsure of how to locate the charges on my bank stats tho! Any clues??
  • HSBC owe us nearly £2400.00 with interest and they had until the 13th Feb to defend which they have done today (8th). Waiting now for the allocation form from the court services, be interested to see what their defence actually is. It's the usual scare them off efforts I think, we'll see who breaks first as I'll request their cost breakdown if they do take it to court which I doubt.

You know what? A part of me had a tiny tiny bit of sympathy for them but that soon goes when you watch them fight to keep what is yours. Hope the greed finishes them all off...will update with outcome. Thanks for the advice from all who've posted, we must win!!!

    Hi there,

I've now got six years of bank statements. It's actually like a trip down memory lane remembering what was spent at what event etc.

Seriously though, i'm not sure what i'm claiming for.

    31 Jan 2007 INT 01JAN A/C ******** - 32.90
    31 Jan 2007 CHG 29DEC A/C ******** - 28.00

Can I claim back the lines that say INT, or is it the part that say's CHG? I'm with Natwest btw.

    Thanks,
    Adam

My question is that LTSB have charged me a £10.00 fee for going unauth. on my account 119 times over the six years (sometimes much more). I am going to claim the higher amounts, but should I claim all the full £10.00 charges, or is this level deemed acceptable?
Also how do I get back to this question to check responses from members to read their advice, is there an easy way to return to my post?

LTSB have now written requesting 2 weeks to consider my claim.

My worry is that I have heard that this loophole (?) is about to be closed so is LTSB playing for time?

Any thoughts? should I go for court or should I wait and see?

It's your choice, but our advice is always to proceed with your own timetable. If the deadlines you have given the bank are up. Start a court claim.

Please understand, this is not a loophole. You are able to reclaim your charges because they are unlawful under UK law. The banks have been getting away with this for years, and have been found out. For this to be closed, the law would need to change and there is not a sniff of this happening. Sometimes I think the banks are behind these untruthful rumours.

If you don't know what the charges mean, phone your bank and ask, although you should be able to reclaim a charge for being overdrawn.

Thanks Edinburghlass - did as you suggested and was told that the first £25 levied was because the bank 'honoured' a standing order which was short by £37.83. This they called "an item charge" - the 'item' being the standing order. They stated it was paid "to avoid me embarrassment". As a goodwill gesture they refunded the "item charge" but are still levying a further £25 because the account had then become overdrawn by £37.83. They refused to refund this second charge because their regulations explain that any unauthorised overdraft incurs a £25 penalty. They offered to give me an overdraft facility there and then.
Do you think I can press for the second penalty?
Jesus loves you:j Everybody else thinks you're an idiot:rolleyes:
  • Yes I think you can, send off Martin's first letter if they won't deal on the phone :)

Unless of course you think you have other charges over the past 6 years in which case you might as well get your info/statements and start a claim.
  • Hi
My husband has just received all his statements for the last six year from NatWest bank. On checking these there were various charges. 1. UNARRGD BORROW FEE, 2. PAID REFERRAL FEE, 3. PER PERIOD & 4. CHARGES ranging from £10 - £90! Are all these re-claimable? Aarrgh!
