Any of the claims for any bank can take anything from a couple of weeks to several months.

I sent a letter requesting statements to Barclays and received them back, then I sent the next letter asking for charges back and received a letter yesterday (2 days before the 14 day request) saying that they were sorry i am unhappy and will be back in touch with me by 26th Feb...should i now send them a letter thretening court action?

I would send off the court letter after your 14 days have passed, don't wait until 26th Feb.
  • Where do i stand with my HSBC loan.... if i send a letter claiming all my OD charges back will HSBC send a demand for the full amount of the outstanding loan?

can someone clarify this for me
  • Provided your loan account is in good order it is a different agreement from your current account and should be okay.
  • thanks for that, a portion of the loan was taken out to pay off my overdraft due to the excessive charges anyway... all my accounts are in good order now but like i said i had to take a loan out to stop the rot as it were and now i'm paying back the loan.... i shall set the wheels in motion now and get a claim in
    thanks again
  • Am a bit stuck......
(I have tried to find the answer before posting this...honestly)

    HSBC claim...£3666.64

7th day was up yesterday! No reply. (Threatening court letter)

So, today I rang to see if they were going to reply, etc etc, before I put my claim into court. Very nice lady explained they are approx 8 weeks behind with dealing with these claims, so I 'probably' would'nt be hearing anything. But, if I would like to wait 8 weeks, I will 'probably' get a reply.

So, off to court we go!!

However, when I go on the money claim site and read how to work the interest out, its telling me to 0.00022 x charge, then x days accrued.

This works out different to what I have worked it out with Martins calculator, which do i do

    Thankyou.
  • Your branch will do.

Thanks! Sent my letter of registered post today asking for £1492.50 back plus interest of £251.62. Will keep you posted on how it goes!

    Vive la revolution!

    Hi there,
I am so pleased I have found this forum. I have been charged £8.00 per day for unautorised overdraft fee plus charges for payments made with insufficient funds by Yorkshire Bank.
Has anyone had experience with them and does it matter that I have just closed the account?

Thank you, all advice greatfully received.

Any advice before I proceed, they must owe me a fortune.
    Thank you:confused:

    Hello,

Sorry if this questions has already been answered elsewhere, but I was hoping someone might be able to help.

I took the RBS to the small claims court for £4409 (including the court fee of £120) on 17th January. They acknowledged the claim on 26th January and so now have a further 28 days to defend it. They have since sent me a letter (dated 2nd February) offering a settlement of £2599.

Since I have already taken them to the small claims court should I ignore this settlement offer or accept it, knowing that I will lose my £120 I paid to take them to court plus £1800 or so?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

  • Howdy,
I am happy banking with the Halifax, especially their online service, however they have systematically taken the Michael with charges for many years now (which bank hasn't), in fact today they have charged me £30 for going over my overdraft at the close of business despite me transferring the arrears an hour later. So I am going to take the plunge & reclaim my money, Martin's tips are excellent, I am just unsure which bank address I should write to, the branch where my account is registered, or Halifax head office. Any advice & further tips greatly appreciated.
