I take it he should immediately apply for information the bank has regarding his accounts. Will he get this all for a tenner, please, and should he have written to the London address?
I guess this question has been asked before, and I made a valiant attempt to read the whole thread yesterday, but fell to sleep first.
First post in this thread gives the address for the SAR/DPA requests.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find it.
I sent my bank a letter 2 weeks ago to reclaim my charges and have received back a standard 'we are looking into it' letter. So now do I send the second letter to them or wait for them to contact me?
Thanks0 -
If the bank hasn't replied to you in the time frame you set, you send the next letter.0

Don't wait for the bank at any stage. You move on at each stage once your own deadline is up.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

bendeneo wrote:Hi there,
I have worked out all the unfair charges from HSBC, however in addition to this there are almost monthly charges that are termed 'Total Charges' and these range from £18 to £100..... although they are normally £25
Can I claim for these too?
I am guessing that these are charges relating to how many days my account was over the overdraft limit......
What have other people done that have noticed this on their statements?
Thanks for any help you can give me!
Ben
I am with the HSBC and when I went through all my statements, I saw that I had a monthly 'Total Charges' statement aswell as my monthly bank statement. I assumed this just told me the monthly charges that were going onto my account. However, when a Total Charges statement for June stated £72.00. I checked that against the normal bank statement, but the actual total charges on that was £260!!!
I rang Manchester (Telephone Banking), they could'nt explain why and told me to go into my branch. I went into the branch with the statements, the customer services person could see what I was getting at, but could'nt explain it. I asked to see the manager, no one available, I then asked if anyone could explain it as I was'nt happy. He went off for 15 minutes and came back and said no one knew, but if I put it in writing to them, they would send the letter on to Manchester and they would explain! So, obviously I explained that Manchester did'nt know. So after a 5 minute silence, he apologised and told me to put it in writing. That was 2 months ago, I havent heard anything.
So, when I put my claim in for charges, I listed all the charges on my monthly bank statements and I ignored the 'Total Charges' off the additional statement, as I can only assume these are included.
Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone
Does anyone know if there are ANY success stories with the
Clydesdale Bank yet? I sent off my letter to them last Friday
threatening to take them to court - haven't heard back yet.
Cheers
