I have requested my statements from the Royal Bank of Scotland, and as I am going through my charges, some are called Referral Charges and Arrestment Fees. They are listed as charges but I'm unsure if I am able to claim these back. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!0 -

I have been watching this site for a few weeks now and only now have I registered - and that's because of the post by Rodster. My wife used the letter from the BBC site and the bank signed for it last Thursday. Barclays have until next Thursday which is when I will be filing for court. I wouldn't worry mate you are not going to lose and if you do, so what at least you won't be living a 'what if' existence!
I will keep you all upto speed with our claim which totals 7k for two accounts.

Phone the bank to check what they are for. Referral Charges should be okay but I don't know about Arrestment fees, different banks use different terms.

Yeah I did that last night, bit late now tho as the letter has gone to the bank! We used the estimation letter as we only had 12 months statements - the letter does clearly request that the bank agree or disagree with the estimation within 8 days.
At the end of the day if it don't work, we will try again and again until they pay up. We work hard for our money and I would rather my 2 year old boy have that money than the bank!!!

This is exactly where the BBC website is so bad with this estimating business. It says if you don't have some, do an estimate but also goes on to say if you only have a few use the DPA to request all the info.
I don't think that over a 6 year period that 1 year of statement really qualifies for estimating and this is where I think claims might fail.
Anyway, done now but I wouldn't recommend anyone to use that method, take a bit more time and have the accurate figures for your claim as if a claim goes to court these figures are your defence.0 -

I agree there!! Oh well we will wait and see. Either way they can stall by supplying true figures or they can simply give offer or pay up. Blimey I may even get to smile at them in some nice office!!!
