I have not had any statements back yet from HSBC. I first wrote to them in December last year, then had to go into a branch to change my address details. This was at the end of February. I've not had a peep out of them since, and have filed a complaint with the Information Commissioner. I understand that they can't force the bank to give me the statements, though so I was wondering if there's another way to get the information from HSBC? I closed my account with them in 2000, and would like to get charges back from around that period. I've got a feeling that they'll want to try to hold off as long as possible until they can say that they haven't got the statements any more (i.e. go beyond 6 years). If anyone's got any advice I would be most grateful.

    Hiya,

By my reckoning, if you closed your account in 2000 as stated then you are outside the six years anyway, you can only go back to april/may 2001, although you can claim back further then six years you need to know your way around the statute of limitations...
  • I have received a letter dated the 30th april 2007 offering £465, initial claim is £512. Summons has been served. Telephoned customer relations (1st may 2007) and managed to increase to £550 and accepted BUT today i have received a letter dated the 2nd may 2007 stating that HBOS have increased the offer to £930 and that they are pleased i have accepted the offer???? i didn`t! i accepted £550. What does this mean?? Is it a mistake??? Funds will be put in my account within 14 days but i am unsure as to what is going on.
WHAT SHOULD I DO? Sit back and wait?? or.....

    Thanks

    Jackie

I phoned Barclays yesterday to see if they have recieved the letter i sent requesting statements.....i don't know whether or not this was the right thing to do, but i was beginning to run out of patience as i have not heard anything from them!!

Got through to a guy called Kevin. After answering some security questions he asked me if i was requesting statments to reclaim bank charges, to which i replied "yes"...he then went on to say that i dont necessarily need my statements, and that the bank can look into my charges and reimburse them. Well you can imagine, how overly nice this guy was being, but i just said no thanks, i would appreciate it of you could send my statements and i will look into this myself....

He couldn't tell me if they had recieved my letter or not, so looks like i will have to sit tight for another couple of weeks till they're time is up!!

    Have faith!!

Hi all, I sent my first letter to A&L asking for £6,400 of charges (including interest) on the 17th April giving them 14 days to respond.
I got the form letter back four days later saying 'no they're lawfull charges', so I then sent my LBA on the 23rd April giving them a further 14 days to make an offer of full payment or face court action without further notice. They signed for the LBA on the 25th but I have had nothing from them to date, asuming I hear nothing more would it still be reasonable to log the MCOL claim on Tuesday, only 21 days after I sent the first letter?
I don't want to be seen by the courts as having been unreasonable in the speed of my legal action but equally I want my money as soon as possible.
    Thanks.

    Hi Edinburghlass

I have taken the Bank all the way from mcol to having a warrant issued against them to recover my money, however things are still not as simple as it should be, the Bailiffs after over a month still have not executed the warrant and today I have spoken the Manager over the Bailiffs to ask why !

She told me that the Warrant should be executed shortly but also said that if the Bank still do not Pay up there is no gaurantee that the Bailiffs can collect the monies owed , mainly because in the Banks Foyer only Furniture exists and that they wil not be able to gain access to the valuables in the Bank ???

How can this be !! can the Bank stop the Bailiffs entering there Building !!!

This is what I thought the Bailiffs were there for ?
Any one else been told this information !!

I sent my request to my local bank office, they then forwarded it onto another office that dealt with customer relations. Address it to the bank manager and send it recorded delivery (important).
I cant believe that it has been 40days and still no statements. I got mine from my online banking. Can you go instore and get them printed off for you?
Start chasing them for the statements.
