Hi,
Last year with the help of this site i managed to get back about £600 from hsbc, with no problems at all.
My boyfriend is now claiming his charges back from nat west, he requested £480, which comes to £430 without the interest. He did request it, but has been told they dont pay interest.
They are going to offer him £303, which leaves £127 missing.
The thing is we are desperate for money at the moment and have virtually nothing to live on for a few weeks. i know if he accepts this offer it will be a lot quicker than going for the full amount.
Does anyone know if he would definately get the full amount and how long it would take roughly?
Thanks0 -

There are no absolute "definites", but if he starts court proceedings and goes for the interest (plus court fees are reimbursed), he should almost certainly get it all back, providing all the procedures are followed. As for the timescales, impossible to say ... the banks have 28 days to acknowledge and maybe defend from when you start proceedings, but the courts are inundated and some people are not getting their hearings set for months (not that it will actually go to court). The bank may pay up at any stage, so totally up to you/him and your personal finances as to whether you decide to settle now.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
I was charged last month £25 for a paid item charge (even though money went into my account on the same day as them taking money out) which took me over my overdraft so have been charged this month AGAIN £25 for unauthorised overdraft charges, which AGAIN have taken me over my overdraft.
Iv spoke to the bank and they refuse to refund me the £25 as they say it is for good reasons.
My problem is that Im going to be charged another £25 next month (which the bank told me today, only because I rang them) which will take me AGAIN over my overdraft. This is going to continue every month as the charges they put on my account always take me over my overdraft and I dont see a way of getting out of it.
What do I do, all the bank says is to get an overdraft on my account which i dont want!!!!0 -
Hi Guys,
I am trying to reclaim from LLoyds about £1200
they have written back saying
" The ofice of fair trading has published new guidlines on credit card defualt charges. We're still talking it through with them, but the important point is that the guidlines are about "default" charges that apply when people break an agreement with us. This does not apply to your charges as these where for dealing with your request to go over your agreed over draft limit they are not defualt charges. they are the prices we charge for these situations"
Long story short - i have 1200 worth of charges for going over my Over Draft or bouncing direct debits.
Are lloyds just trying to put me off? should i just file with local court? I'd love your advice thanks!

The simple answer is to stop the item going out of your account and find another way to pay it. I dont know how difficult that will be but it seems logical.0 -

Yes they are trying to fob you off so to proceed to court is the next stage. Good luck0 -
OMG lol am so glad someone else has asked that question as I have been pondering on how to respond, I had a letter from LLoydsTsb dated ironically 15th April strange that, being a sunday. I knew for sure from that letter that it was a fob off as they were asking for another four weeks to deal with my complaint..however, i received that letter on the 17th april and i immediately responded with a big fat NO, reply with a reasonable response within seven days or i may refer the matter to the FOS or commence Legal Action...they very psychically responded to my letter of the 17th april on the 16th april, saying exactly the same... That I requested them to exceed my overdraft limit and bang me £30 everytime for the priviledge plus interest??...Hmm I think not...No one in their right mind is going to request that a bank exceeds an overdraft limit?? are they ?? lol.
I think my response is going to be...I thank you for your letter dated 16th april and note the contents..however please refer to my letter of the 17th april in response to your letter of sunday 15th april as this still applies.
Dont forget to send off the third template letter to your bank though telling them you are now going to proceed in the small claims court ...
Good luck also for me and you0 -

During Easter bank holiday I was trying to make a transfer of money into A&L’s DirectSaver from my Coventry account but regrettably I received a letter today from Coventry which says:
Unfortunately, your direct debit has not been paid as there were insufficient cleared funds in your account at the time. We have therefore made a charge of £20 on your account.
Why this might have happened was because as well as trying to make a transfer to A&L I was also trying to open an ISA with Barclays and I think that unfortunately they must have just cashed the £3000 cheque I handed over a few days before the transfer to A&L.
The Coventry rejected my direct debit request made on the 16/04/07 due to in insufficient funds. I was unfortunately overdrawn by £2000 pounds due to Barclays cashing the cheque before 16 April.
I’m sorry to say that I didn’t phone Coventry to double check my exact balance, I thought that I’d sufficient cleared funds in my account because I only checked my recently sent statement which appeared to suggest I had sufficient cleared funds. Regrettably I’d forgotten all about the ISA and this is why I’m in this predicament. I was hoping too that Barclays might not have cashed the cheque and unfortunately I was away so I couldn’t sort this out at the time. I only realised this a couple of days ago, I’d only just arrived home today. I’ll know next time to make sure to double check over the phone as well as checking my statement.
Anyway, I was wondering if I could at all legitimately claim this back. After all if it were a cheque I’d sent A&L it most probably would’ve bounced and there would possibly be no £20 fee. It seems a bit unfair, although I’m probably wrong about this.0
