Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges Discussion Area

Thanks Twinkly - just to clarify, the total I've claimed for is £542.72, made up of bank charges of £436, the interest I've calculated on that at £54.72, and filing the claim cost me £52. So Halifax is offering me the full cost of bank charges plus £20 - but not the interest and not the claim fee. Is that still a 'reasonable' offer in the court's view and would I be penalised for not accepting it if it proceeds to court?0

Bank: ABBEY
Amount reclaimed: £2449.12 inc interest
Amount paid: £135
This isn't much of a success story - YET!!
After receiving copies of my bank statements I wrote to Abbey at the end of February to claim my charges back. A few weeks later I received a 'holding' letter from them letting me know that they were looking into my request. I again received a 'holding' letter another couple of weeks down the line saying the same thing. Last week £135 miraculously appeared in my Abbey bank account and a couple of days later I received a letter from Abbey informing me that they were prepared to repay £135 of charges as a 'gesture of goodwill'!!
Are they joking or what! Do they think I'm stupid enough to accept THAT?!
Anyway, I'm now taking my case to the Financial Ombudsman. I fight on!!
I'm still pursuing Barclaycard, Nationwide and RBS by the way.0 -
I have looked at consumeractiongroup and they suggest that you can claim for more than 6 years because the charges are unlawful and that negates the 6 year rule.
does anyone if this is correctpaid all debts off 2024 yay0 -
Just a quick question. Does it matter if you are no longer with the bank or are bankcrupt?0

I have been keeping my one that particular thread at the CAG. It is certainly true that people have managed to claim back money past the 6 year limit."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

Ok that makes it clearer thank youThey would have needed to offer the £436 before you filed at court to have been considerable reasonable. Given that you are at court and the amount they have not offered enough to cover costs and interest then no, it is not a reasonable offer. Good luck

Hi
You have all been very helpful in the past and i now need it again!
Am as far as sending LBA to RBS and they have now asked for more time..... but since that time i have had loads more charges. Can i now take them to court and include the recent charges not already claimed for?
Thanx in advance:j0 -

Stick to your own time schedules. They are just trying to buy time. If your time limit is up, progress to the next level.
