  • I have sent the first template letter to Nat west.
After 40 days I receive a letter asking for a fee of £ 5.00, to cover the cost, however I sent attached to the first letter a check for the maximum of £10.00 which has been taken out and detached from the letter as it was stapled to it! they have sent my original letter back without it, As yet it has not been cashed, how do I proceed from here?
How do I word my reply without sounding to offensive as this kind of tactic I am very much accustomed to with my previous dealings with this bank.

    Hi all,
I am going through my statements from 2001 which arrived in only 30 days from Aliiance and Leicester (amazing!). In addition to many unauthorised daily overdraft charges which I am sure I can claim, there are also several £10 'monthly OD charges'. As I have never had an overdraft facility on this account should I claim for these £10 charges? I don't have the terms and conditions and scale of charges from that far back, is it possible that the £10 monthly charge is fair and therefore likely to slow my claim if included?
    Hope someone can help.
    Thank you.
  • Hi Looboss replying to your post I also got that standard letter back from NatWest asking for £5.00, they lost my original cheque for £5 so I wouldnt worry about them cashing your £10, but I will say that you must send your payment by registered post as they will probably lose it, incompitance!!
  • Can someone PLEASE help me???

I feel as though I am tearing my hair out at this stupid bank (NatWest) they got my first letter back in Feb asking for my charges, they then requested £5.00 which I sent straight back, 4 wks later I chased the payment only to get another letter asking for £5.00! I know they are just stalling but is there anything I can do to speed up the process? I have given them 2 wks before I complain to the FO and IC as it has been almost 2 months since I logged the original complaint!
    Help, anyone??

    hi all.
new to this site. read lots and lots of threads on what to do and when etc.... but still need to ask the following.:

sent letters to natwest requesting charges to be repaid two weeks ago now for three accounts held with three different branches - no reply from any even though every letter was sent recorded delivery.
rang them yesterday and spoke to a very helpful chap who told me that they have nothing on their system regarding my letters. however, that their department could deal with all three accounts as they will be linked in my name. he told me to fax them through to their direct fax and they would look into it. which i did. rang today to see if there was any news on a validation of claim spoke to a lady this time, who again was very helpful who told me that the letters would take up to 48 hours to get onto the system. they advised me to ring back later in the week.
question is.... what do i do now. ?
their two weeks are up and i know i should be sending LBA and after speaking to the very nice lady at natwest she said that "once LBA is sent they will put my claim to the side and not into it any further"
now i am not gullable in any sense of the word, but i genuinely get the feeling that they will seriously look into it and make an offer without the need for court - but i could be wrong

what should i do now folks???
    all help appreciated.

    cheers

I wasn't sure about this but, on reading through the threads on the Alliance & Leicester forum, people seem to be successful in claiming these monthly OD charges, though I'm obviously not sure if they have an OD facility. How about posting your query on the A&L forum where someone may be able to help you?icon7.gif
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

I have been scanning over the success thread, i was wondering if people thought that there was a trend between the lower claim amounts (under 1,000) and the court stage of the process, compared to higher amounts and faster pay-ups. I could be wrong but it seems that people who are claiming less , have been to later stages and even court stages to get their money back, whereas people who are claiming higher, seem to get their money back without as much hassle.

i could be wrong on this, maybe the willingness to payup is geographically related?

has anyone tried to spot trends in branch, amount or location when it comes to how fast/slow the banks pay up?
    Debt at start (Aug 2003): £13,500 >>Debt Now (Aug 2013): £3,104
HSBC charges WON (april 07): £1,103.00
HSBC PPI WON!!! (July 08): £1,166.00
HFC PPI WON!!! (August 08) £2,100
  • Spoke to my Credit Card company today to be told that I no longer meet their lending critia and my card was stopped in January. I only have a £220 balance but had been paying overlimit fees of £12 for months. Has anybody challenged the £12 fees with the CC Companies? I dont have much to lose and would be interested to know other peoples ideas.
    Cheers

    :j Woo-hoo! :j

£750 went into my account this morning. I am now not overdrawn and have a little left over! I'm still going to court for the remainder though :D

I'm not gloating, just wanted to show that it can be done really. I am in serious debt and didn't think I'd ever be able to do this on my own.....but it really is possible..... it took 4 months to sort out but because I persevered, I got MY money back!

My friends and family have all expressed they want to do it, so I've pointed them over here. A few of them didn't have a clue and were going to pay someone to do it...... I'm just glad I came accross this site!
