Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges Discussion Area

Alliance and Leicester have refused my claim for £265.00 so far so off to court we go. I have completed the process so far and today have received a letter that says:
"The OFT has commented that they consider the level of late payment fees to be unfair, however, they were actually referring to late payment fees for credit card payments which are quite distinct from a banks fees on current accounts. Discussions are going on between the banks and the OFT regarding current accounts and once the outcome is known, Alliance and Leicester will review it's position as appropriate"
I am now going to take them to court, I refuse to give up having gone this far. I note on the success board, several people have had to take the court route with A&L.
One good success to report, all charges paid back from Norwich and Peterbrough building society, only £35.00 but that will pay the court fees for A&L, nothing ventured, nothing gained - heh heh! If push comes to shove I have opened a parachute account with Lloyds but hopefully won't have to use it as A&L is one of the best apart from not playing ball on this one.
As there are so many posts on here now I just thought I should update my message and let you all know that A&L paid out 5 days after they received the mcol papers. So folks, if I can do it, so can anyone - keep at it!

don't let anyone else make money off the overcharging by banks.
it's relatively simple to do if you follow the instructions on this site!! it is time consuming going through your statements, and you have to be quite organised with keeping track of dates etc.
if you have any questions there's always someone on this site who can help you!!!halifax: settled paid £2622.18:j

They say to refund me is not fair to other customers who's charges stand!! If I get no joy this morning it's " Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to court we go, with a case so strong, it shouldn't take long, Hi Ho, Hi ho"!!!!!
I'll keep you posted.

managed to speak to a senior advisor at the call centre as the dedicated line is constantly engaged! (I wonder why?). She has asked me to hold fire on filing a claim until Monday as she wants to speak with the customer experience team on Monday morning to ask them to settle out of court!!
She also said that if she has no joy herself on Monday, she will ring me personally and wouldn't blame me for progressing through the small claims track!
Once again, I'll let you know.0 -

Have confidence in yourself and this site. Read the success stories, they are a real inspiration. I heard of one company charging 25%, it's not worth paying someone to do what you can do yourself. I felt the same way at first, but coming on here really gives you the help, confidence and ability.
Good luck with it.

I wonder if someone can help me?
I'm claming back charges from LloydsTSB.
I started the process back at the beginning of January when I was claiming £435.00. Since then the charges that have been applied have made the current total £1050.00.
I've gone through the process properly and had no success in the beginning. I sent them a letter telling them I'd be taking them to court, but received no reply. I can't actually afford the £120.00 to take them to court at the moment so I sent the the same letter a few weeks later.
This one seemed to work!
They've offered me £750.00 and say they are crediting my account with the money within the next 10 days. It'll clear up the £500 overdraft I currently have (due to the charges, I've not paid any money in or used my bank account for DD's etc since January) but I just don't think it's enough.
So, my questions are these:
As they've said this is in full and final settlement, can I still take them to court?
As I don't have the £120.00 to take them to court for another couple of months, do I have to start it all again?
What happens with the money they're putting in my account? I want the full amount!
How do I proceed? Do I take the £750.00 off the total I'm claiming and do I write to LloydsTSB?
I apologise if these questions have been answered before, I've trawled through 30 pages of this thread and can't find what I'm looking for!
Thanks in advance!0
