  • Sent letter to halifax asking for a list of charges, on the 40th day i received a letter from them confirming that copies of duplicate statements have been ordered and will be sent under separate cover. This was on the 7th Nov and i still have not received. Do i wait or send another letter?

Also could somebody pls explain what is meant by manual intervention as it says in letter "with regard to your request for information relating to manual intervention on your account HBOS plc is under no statutory obligation to record this information and therefore am unable to deal with this request.

posted this a few days ago....no one seemed to be able to give me an idea wondered if there was a fresh pair of eyes to point me.......during the years of '99 to April '03 I was unmercifully charged by the halifax, barclays and royal bank of scotland. At which point i went bankrupt. i was discharged from my bankruptcy in April '05. If I left these banks unpaid because of my bankruptcy would I still be able to claim against them. I still feel bitter against them as I feel they was a contributing factor to my bankruptcy!

Definitely not for anything up to November 2000. If you havent actually paid the charges then not sure if you cam really get them back, beacsue there is nothing to get back. The only way you could get anything back, I would say, would be if you can show you paid the particular charge. Any other ideas?
Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

The guy also said that as I was playing dirty with them then they would do the same with me!!

Did someone actually say this to you? If so I would try to get a transcript of this. You are not playing dirty, you are claiming what is legally yours. The judge would love to see this I'm sure if it came down to it...

Can someone who knows the law say whether they have breeched the terms of the DPA (40 days). If so this is a case for the Info Comissioner.

Manual intervention is where someone does soemthing on your account, and they record something to note it. I used to do it for Vodafone, if you adjust something you make a note of it, if the customer is abusive, you make a note of it, etc. They are saying they are not obliged to record these things and therefore can't give them to you.

  • Has anyone claimed unfair bank charges from HSBC at all? Also does anyone know which current accounts I might be able to get set up and with who if my credit rating isnt great? Id like to try and claim unfair bank charges but want to have another account setup just in case HSBC decide to pay me then close my account. Has anyone had this happen to them with HSBC?

Also, I haev a business bank account with HSBC, which is registered at the same address as my home address. If I try and claim unfair bank charges, and HSBC pay but close my accounts, will they close my Business account as well, and if they do will this affect my credit rating.

Many Thanks for any help with this Please PM me if you have any advice, or post here. Most grateful.
