I've only ever been caught out once - I'm usually really careful about making sure I don't incur charges.
But the one time I did go over my limit (by about 20p) I was penalised £20. Although it's not anywhere near as much as other people have been charged, the principle of the thing makes me absolutely furious. At the time, I phoned to complain by got nowhere.
Is it worth trying to claim such a small amount back from the bank? Has anyone tried to claim smaller amounts with any success?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!0 -
Hi handed in my LBA to claim back charges of £376,received a letter from the Halifax offering me £156 a a gesture of goodwill in full and final payment, i sent a recorded delivery letter back to my local branch saying i would not accept that and would basically be willing to go to court if i didn't receive my full amount and as a gesture of goodwill would give the another 7 days to comply. What my question is should i have sent it to their head office and included anything else or is this ok,i stay in Scotland so things are a wee bit different up here.

Hi,
I am wanting to claim for charges but need a little advise first please.
I have two standard type accounts with LloydsTSB and a credit card and a loan for £10k. Basically was made redundant 4 times over the last 7 years & so got into some major financial difficulty.
The result was that I defaulted in just about every way imaginable & was charged in the thousands in returned DD, unauthorised overdrafts etc etc.
I have now remortgaged & sorted all the debts by offering settlement figures which were accepted by Lloyds & reduced the amount on every one by over a third, so asbout £19k of debt to Lloyds became about £12k paid back.
My question is, despite the fact that I have paid the debts "in full & final settlement" can I still claim back the charges they made on those accounts?
Can they then come after me for the remainder and/or will they keep the charges as part payment?
Hope I have made myself clear enough here - trying to!
I would really appreciate any advise, thanks in advance]
Could really do with an answer if anyone can help I would be very grateful???0 -

I have been paying a "Royalties Subscription" charge each month to The Royal Bank Of Scotland for my current account.
Can I claim this back,or is this for things like bank letters and overdraft charges..?
Thanks
Hi
I don't think you can claim this back, they are allowed to charge you this.
Sorry!

Hi
You need to start the Court claim now then. You can do it online at https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp or you can do it in person by taking your claim forms to court yourself.
I don't know if there is any information on here about the process (I'm sure there will be somewhere) but if not try: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/ there is a step-by-step guide on there.
Good luck!

Hi all,
I just wanted to offer my assistance to anyone reclaiming bank charges. I have just recently reclaimed over £1800 (incl. costs and interest) from my bank and would be happy to answer specific questions re: the experience. I can't promise to be constantly available or claim to be an expert, but would love to pass on my own experiences.
bizarroAny advice I give is based purely on personal experience. I am NOT a professional or expert in any field except insect genetics!! So be warned!

Hi everyone
i wrote to Barclays requesting from my statements and then a letter for my refund. firstly i have received the statement copies but from 2002 to 2006 only, secondly they informed me that it would take 4-8 weeks to find a solution. My question is what do i do now?? wait for them to respond in the timescale they have said??? help me0 -
I'm in the middle of claiming back bank charges and have already had a full refund from Barclaycard, however I have recently got married and all the charges I am claiming for are in my maiden name, as my bank accounts are now in my married name they won't accept any cheques made out in my previous name.
Is it going to confuse matters if I claim them in my maiden name but then maybe put a footnote at the bottom requesting they make payment payable in my married name?0 -
I am within my overdraft limit, as I have been for several years, but I get the usual interest charges each month. Are these reclaimable or simply the charges over and above the limit of the overdraft?0
