WOW I never knew that, I had my baby in July last year & I got tax credits paid in while he was in SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit), NatWest took over £250 in charges, took me over my overdraft, things snowballed as you can imagin. I'm going to print out what you have said & use the information if my claim goes to court. Thanks Twinkly as always

Thats dreadful, they really do not care do they. I hope baby is now doing well and you are recovered :) I fully intend to reclaim every single penny I can due to some of the stunts they pulled after I became seriously ill eventually suffering a stroke after having my children. I didnt even know what day of the week it was sometimes or my own name and used to ring up begging them to stop. (Must have sounded like a raving lunatic actually, not my now composed and articulate self at all.)

They know damn well what the deposits are by the coding of each as they come in, it shows on statements clearly, and *should* know damn well that they cant touch it by law. You've really got to wonder at the morality of these people.

*deep breath* and *rant over* :)

    wondering what NOTIFIED FEES/CHG means??

Just read on the CAG website & I found this quote about what you are asking.... hope this helps:

"The banks are trying to change the name of the fees to try to say they are not penalties. This is nothing more than a (dishonest) attempt to cloak these charges.
Dont worry, we have this covered. They are penalty charges, you can still reclaim them.

They have changed the charges description from "total charges" to
    NOTIFIED FEES/CHG".

Hope this helps & good luck.
  • i am claiming for my personal acc £118, my boys personal acc £4343, and our joint acc £575, all 3 are with Natwest.

i have sent 1st letter saying 'please pay these charges back, reply within 14days', then i have sent 2nd letter saying 'pay these charges back or else i am taking you to court, reply within 14days'.

now i am at the stage of filling out the online Moneyclaim application of taking Natwest to the small claims courts.

question1: i have now discovered that some of the 'charges' on my boyfs personal account were monthly fees for the privilage of having an acc with benefits, and so i dont think i can claim for these charges, BUT i have already totalled all the charges and sent 2 letters, waiting 14 days after each letter, and am now at the applying online to court stage. i havent applied to Moneyclaim yet.
    What do i do?
Do i get my boyf to phone bank and get the dates and amounts of monthly fees for the account he had, then deduct these charges from the total of £4343, then do i need to resend the 2 letters and wait another 14 days each!!!?? or can i just deduct it from the £4343 total and go ahead with the court claim with a lower amount to claim?

question2: Can i fill out 1 Moneyclaim court application for the total of our 3 acc (as long as the total is below £5000)
or do i need to fill out 3 separate Moneyclaim applications?

    thanks.

Thanks, baby is fine & doing well, although the bags under our eyes are growing just as quickly as he is :D. Pleased to hear you are a lot better, I know the feeling only too well of crying my eyes out on the phone to the bank, saying I'm sorry for not being able to talk for crying, only to be told "thats ok I'll wait until you have stopped"....cheeky jumped up little.... (I'm not going to swear!) person!. Anyway, like you....deep breath...but with a glass of wine in hand....and relax :p

For anyone out there in tears because of the banks, there's light at the end of the tunnel & take up any offers of help & advice....but not off your bank!

    Hi all,
Well for very liitle effort, Northern rock are coughing up £110 in over charged Redemption fees :j

Ok, First Question RE Capital one MCOL claim

Received today letter from court Re Capital One Bank
'Notice of Acknowledgement of service has been filed'.
Attached with it was a copy of response pack, duly completed by
Cap 1s' 'Legal Specialist' ;) (paid pen pusher )
    and they have ticked the
' i intend to defend all of this claim'

Do i have to do anything at this point or wait until i get something else, or the 28 days passes if i hear nothing.

Second Question Re HSBC business banking charges.

Today received NEW terms & conditions to Business Banking charges and wondered what Martin or others may think of this.

The fee for Borrowing over your Formally arranged overdraft limit is £4 per day.
The fee for borrowing with no formal overdraft in place is £8 per Day

Is this not just another way of Duping us, as they do not have to write to you to tell you that you have gone over the limits.
They are just going to charge £28 per week / £56 per week, Is this not the same as we are already fighting about overcharging for going overdrawn but guised another way instead of a one of charge ???????????

Would that be an Advantage Gold Account?. It might help to know if someone can help you & give the correct advice. I'm with NatWest but I took off £12 from the charge at the end of the month but I don't know if I did it right, best to wait for someone more experienced than me, sorry I couldn't help much. Good luck with your 3 claims.

I read somewhere that if your sole account & your joint account are personal accounts, they can be claimed together, not too sure about your boyfriends account though, but, please wait & get a second opinion from someone more experienced. Let us know how you get on, good luck & have fun claiming :D
