Hi I claiming on behalf of my wife from NatWest, when they issue
a unarranged borrowing fee they also add interest to it. My question is can you claim back the interest on the charge.

I wrote to my bank on 5 March and hand delivered it. I have received a letter from the bank, Barclays (!) Customer Relations Dept yesterday (21 March) and they say that they are looking into my concerns and will let me have an answer or update as quickly as poss but no later than 03 APril 2007.

I am a bit concerned that they are pushing it into April, isn't something meant to be happening whereby what they pay me back will be reduced?

What can I say to them to get them to make a decision quicker. I have been given a phone number to ring if I wish to discuss it further.

    Thanks so much.

They will be snowed under but frankly that isnt your problem. The only efficient way to proceed is to stick to the timescales set out in the templates and good luck :)

i sent off the first letter to the halifax towards the end of febuary. they didn't repy within the two week time time scale. so two days ago i sent off the "taking them to court" letter, feeling very miffed that they hadn't even bothered to reply.
Today, i recieved a letter from them, dated 19th March - so way after the first two weeks and before they recieved my second letter - stating that they need 8 WEEKS to investigate my claim. It's their standard reply to complaints i guess as i got a little leaflet about complaining with it.

Am i still entitled to continue with my two weeks then i start court proceedings threat??

i'd like to as i'm miffed at being brushed off like this.

    advice please anyone!!!

Sounds like the Unauthorised Overdraft charge to me. Generally if their charges put you into overdraft then you can claim back the interest. On the odd occasion I have had a charge refunded in this manner the interest has been refunded also. If the overdraft was down to you though I am afraid you cant reclaim the interest.

Hope that helps and good luck with her claim :)

Dont take it personally you are one of thousands of cases they are swamped with. Not your problem so stick to the timescales in the templates and good luck :)

I'm noticing that loads are after the same answers this morning! I'm happy to feel a twit but can you just confirm that when you say "proceed and stick to the timescales" in my case that is, write the second letter about the court notice??????

    Am I right?????

Sorry to be such a pain! But never, never been there before so just checking!

    Big thanks.

Hi i have the same problem as you, they didn't reply in the timescale i gave them from my first letter (14 days) i was feeling pretty miffed too. I then recieved the same letter as you telling me it'll take up to 8 weeks to invesigate my complaint....i was not too happy about being fobbed off so i went ahead and sent in my 2nd letter warning them with court action as i was not happy with their response..that was on the 15th of this month so i await their reply.
I'd say stick within your timescale and send in that 2nd letter don't let them fob you off.
