For those that missed Whistleblower last night this article covers what happened in it:
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/special-report/article.html?in_article_id=418636&in_page_id=108&ct=5
An excerpt reads: Without a hint of remorse, Simon Pickergill told the call-centre trainees he was teaching that he 'loved' it when customers complained about the extortionate cost of bank charges. He said: 'They'd phone up, start crying and blaming you - telling you that their kids are going to starve. And I'd be like: 'I don't know you - I don't care.' I was just thinking: 'You're not getting it back!' I was a right git.'0 -

Hi All
I have just come off the phone to BOS this is day 15 after initial letter claiming charges of £1160, was informed that a backlog of 14 weeks for statements if anyone applies now! I was told that an acknowledgement letter was being sent out to me today, I assume that this will just acknowledge the fact that they got my claim but won't be an actual offer I was also told that they had 8 weeks to sort out but they are averaging 4 to 5 weeks. Should I just wait until tomorrow to see the letter first the send the second letter with the threat of court etc any advise would be grateful and also if I send the second letter could I claim interest and how do I calculate it out?
Thank you in anticipation
Theyre snowed under by the looks of it but that isnt your problemYou could allow them a day or two to receive this letter but it is unlikely to contain an offer in full settlement.
To work out your charges & interest go to the main article here :
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,
Scroll down the page to step 2 and there is the interest calculator there. Just type in the amount and date of the charge and click calculate. You can add them to a list that will tot them up to the right and when its done click on 'print'. This will open up the list in another window and from there I used my browser to edit/select all and then copied and pasted that info into a text document on my computer. From there its easy fiddle around and present the list neatly for printing off.

Morning ......
Can anyone please advise on a template letter for reclaim of credit card charges, as I would imagine it needs to be worded slightly differently, does it ?!?!
I am wanting to write to Capital One & Morgan Stanley, making a total claim, including HSBC (& interest!) of £3456.00 :rotfl:
Thanks, Helen*Helen*

Yes it does need some amendment to address the different charges. I left out naming them initially and asked for details of 'default charges'. These are Late Payment Fees and Overlimit Charges in the main but in the case of Barclaycard there is also something called an 'Out Of Order Fee' for a whopping £40 so ask for ALL charges and anything you dont understand query with the forum.

Thank you Twinkly for the advise, I have done what you said and totalled up the interest it makes another £175.00. Would I be okay to send the second letter with the amended charges or would I have to start at the first one again, once again many thanks:TBORN TO RIDE - FORCED TO DRIVE

You're very welcome
Its fine to send the second letter with the interest added now as this counts as your Letter Before Action (LBA) and you are entitled to claim interest once at the court stages. Best of luck with it0 -
I think you could do with a thread for discussion on Whistleblower in this forum as it will affect this forum in the main.

I wrote to my bank on 5 March and hand delivered it. I have received a letter from the bank, Barclays (!) Customer Relations Dept yesterday (21 March) and they say that they are looking into my concerns and will let me have an answer or update as quickly as poss but no later than 03 APril 2007.
I am a bit concerned that they are pushing it into April, isn't something meant to be happening whereby what they pay me back will be reduced?
What can I say to them to get them to make a decision quicker. I have been given a phone number to ring if I wish to discuss it further.
Thanks so much.0
