The calculation shown that bouncing a cheque costs the bank 9p was a shocker and I hope gives people renewed confidence to claim for all charges and not settle for less. Even if you settle in full without interest because you feel responsible for your charges through mismanagement of the account then they have still got more than the actual cost. Something to think about.

I spotted the 9p thing too...even though they said it costs £1.50 - £2.00....if my claim goes to court & I'm asked what I think a reasonable charge is then I'm going to qoute 9 pence :rotfl:

I'm also tempted to go the whole way & claim over £800.00 of interest too :D

Maybe BBC2 or BBC3 will show it again....keep a look out or ask friends if they recorded it, it's an eye opener!

I will be going the whole way too. Rough calculations on incomplete details on what I thought would be a small reclaim from Capital One shows almost £1000 to be reclaimed and the interest alone is around £250. I want that back thanks very much.

Good luck with your claim :)

I don't understand what the above paragraph means, however, you need your statements/info no matter what you do so send out the letter linked in this thread or even go to your local branch and wait there until someone gets the information for you.

Or follow your own advice and phone them up?

The problem is this is what i have been doing, however, they just keep on saying i have sent an email asking for these to be forwarded to you. Each time i do this the time passes and still no statements. Does it work if you go into the branch as i did suggest this to them and they stated the accounts are archived and only 1 department has access to them..this does not include the local branches...

No wonder the banks arn't defending in court after watching the whistleblower, I feel a lot better about getting my money back now!

Good luck with your claim too Twinkly
  • I think the best bet is to stash our cash under the mattress. Well, it didn't do my Grandmother any harm!!! Beep programme made me feel ashamed to be working hard, earning money and having to rely on the banks to pay me. What's the alternative?? MAD BAD WORLD!

Just agreed to a refund of £556 from First Direct (original claim £716). They were rather quick, despite the sickly "we're giving this to you in good faith, but we really don't have to" letter. Never mind, Natwest next on the list and I intend to cream 'em!!

Help, have requested statements from Barclays but not received anything after 40 days. Next step please.

Am really surprised you haven't got anything, because I applied for mine at my local branch, I got a telephone call within 7 days, they would send the letter on and I would hear within 3 weeks, which I did. I received a huge envelope full of 4 years statements, with my cheque for £10 returned!

Perhaps they are so over whelmed with requests, they can't cope.

    Good Luck :D
