Making towels soft

<sigh> Wimmin!
You make your towels all super duper soft and then spend a fortune on exfoliating gloves and creams and lotions - when a good brisk rub with a not quite so soft towel does the whole thing for you for free!0 -

I like scratchy towels. Good exfoliant and they dry me quicker!

lmfao i just hate them so soft, they do nothing! they dont absorb the water, plus as poster above says, they really do give ya a good rub, and i wasnt being saucy lol x0
-
I tried the soak them in vinegar and water trick...still hard. Apparently it's the limescale deposits from the water, hence trying vinegar.
Also I did hear that fabric conditioner affects their absorbency- I don't use it anyway. But I don't have a tumble dryer either
Oops!
The real trick is to use vinegar instead of fabric conditioner when washing your towels.
Use about the same amount (a capful?) as you would normally use of fabric conditioner and put it in the conditioner bit of the soap tray of your machine.
There's rarely much, even any, smell of vinegar - and it for sure disappears completely when airing / drying.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I also use vinegar in the final rinse, towels are softer, but not too soft that they don't dry you. Fabric conditioner makes them too, too soft.0

I hate soft towels!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Me too, I love scratchy towels. When they are soft they feel slimy to me.
However, the rest of my family love soft towels.0 -

Ok I admit it, I'm a softy - tumble drying the towels is a treat, and one of the benefits of winter when it's too damp to put them out on the line!Resolution:
