This is a tried and tested method...rub the towl against itself! If that makes sense :D The rubbing action makes it fluffy again...but don't ask me how!

That's why they come out fluffier from the TD - the fibres rub against each other.

Always best to avoid fabric conditioner on towels - not only does the buildup make them rough eventually, but the conditioner causes less water to be taken up by a fabric; not very desirable in a towel!

Ah! I used to do that on the toweling nappies when I air dried them, didn't want my boy to end up with a sore bottom :)

  • I've been a good girl and searched through numerous washing/vinegar threads and found nothing.

My towels are so rough when they've just been washed and dried. i've just washed them with white vinegar instead of softner and it's done nothing. i don't have a tumble drier so they're always dried on airers which i know doesn't make them soft.

should i just buy new towels or try the vinegar again. it hasn't improved their feel at all.

Give them to me I love them like that :D

More seriously I find comfort and a run throught the tumble makes them toooo soft for me I hate them like that so maybe that's what you should do.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

The new Comfort Creme is very good. You only need a bit and it smells gorgeous. Makes everyting really soft.

  • i was about to reply and say that surely comfort creme isn't very OS as it's probably quite pricey.
but then it's probably cheaper than buying a new set of towels :D

  • i'm quite happy with roughish towels, but the roughness i have at the moment is a bit bracing when you couple it with a dodgy shower that only gets warm enough when you're just finishing your wash and not putting the central heating on first thing because i'm only up and about for 40 minutes before leaving for work :D brrrrrrr!
