Making towels soft

I found occasionally 'washing' towels with no soap powder (or whatever) really helps too - its shocking how much actually gets left in the towels after a few washes - I wash really hot too that also helps - and of course vinegar instead of fabric conditioner to kill of any remaining soap......I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0

I've started doing that recently as well. I've washed then 2 or 3 times on the trot without any soap powder and you can still see the soap coming out. Always do them on a 60 degree wash though.0 -
Hi sockmonkey,
There's an older thread with lots of ideas that should help so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.

Please can you tell me how to get my towels fluffy, well, softer than they are? DS is complaining he's getting scratched when he dries himself (they're not that bad really - it's his teenage sense of humour).0

How are you washing/drying them now?0

A tip from this site. I use vinegar instead of fabric conditioner.
Also, now and again, put your towels on a hot wash without any soap powder and that will get rid of any excess soap which makes them hard. Still use the vinegar at the end to soften. My towels are now soft but still rough enough to dry on.
I don't like that artificial softness you get from fabric conditioner any more0 -
yep i go with the vinegar aswell does making them softerStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

I confess I tumble dry the towels - line drying makes them very scratchy! Not very money-saving tho' - sorry.Resolution:
