  • That's a pittance compared to a full wage and is designed for subsistence; not for paying loans etc.
So, SSP would not count as evidence that you didn't need PPI.
I know that but i still never wanted the insurance but they advise me i should have it and i felt pressure into saying yes,at the end of the day i am only doing what so many other people are doing at the moment,i feel i didn't need the insurance and i had the means to pay it back, obviously you have answer my question but i feel you have a bit of an issue with my post maybe because i posted in the wrong thread!!!

Thankyou for your reply sorry it just felt at the time you were against me,I am aware it can take a year but got nothing to loose?! I had an egg loan which I was told I had to have ppi on as they wouldn't allow the loan due to my circumstances, they are no saying I did not have means of protecting my payments when I had a house with mortgage and also I because I never got sick pay but I actually get statutory sick pay so this should count?? Sorry for being a bit abrupt just having a bad week!!! Lol

If this was sold during a telephone call 2005 ish, there'll be records of this conversation.
SSP isn't enough to cover your repayments, so it doesn't count.
You may have been covered by life insurance if you had a mortgage.
As you say, it's with the Ombudsman now, so hopefully, you'll get a positive result.

Thankyou for your help that's a positive reply to my post so hopefully fingers cross I get somewhere,I have mortgage and we have life insurance on it,I thought ssp would count but when it's the bear minimum like you say it won't cover loan payments! Thanks again for your help :)

No worries scary Mary!!! Lol :)
  • Hi, I have just successfully had my PPI claim from Nationwide building society. All I need to do to have my claim refunded is to pop into any branch of Nationwide for them to witness my signature and provide them with a valid driving licence or passport as proof of my I.D. My passport has expired and I don't drive. They say I need to update my signature in order to recieve my money but I suspect that they are using this as a way out of not paying it back. They have given me 28 days. I suspect they knew my passport was out of date as I have used it in the past as I.D with them. I am fuming because a) they admited they mis-sold me PPI and b) they have found a loophole to get out of paying it back.

    Hi

I successfully had my claim for PPI on an Egg loan upheld at the beginning of September. I've filled in the acceptance form agreeing to the amount that will be paid to me (on 7th Sept) and still I have no cheque. Egg PPI Loans are now handled by Citibank and the number is just an automated systems saying you will get your cheque within 15 days. Tried Citibank Financials, no one can help. Have written to the email address on the automated system, no reply. Is anyone else experiencing these difficulties? The cheque due to me is for a significant amount, so I'm definately not giving up!

    Many thanks
  • Hi ex-Egg customers,
Have any of you been upheld on pre-ticked or implied credit card success if PPI was taken out with the account? I have the same problem with MINT and Virgin (MBNA) too. I also believe that the box was pre-ticked and that with the MINT card my Credit Limit was higher with PPI.
Any help is very much appreciated.
    thanks

    When were these taken out?

Pre-ticking only applies to online applications and no-one has pre-ticked boxes for some years. So, dates and whether they were online applications or not is important.

I believe I saw a reply to a complaint on this board the other day where someone accused Egg of pre-ticking boxes and the response was that they never pre-ticked boxes.
