EGG - PPI Claim upheld but still no cheque!
Comments

Hi all, had may letter through today to say that my claim has been upheld on a mis-sold Egg PPI on loan.
However, they're stating that as my account is still open (which it isn't) they want to pay half into that and send me a cheque for the rest??
I can't get into that account and Egg have sold on there Loan business so they can't help either!
Am I entitled to get a cheque for the full amount instead? I've written to them asking for that but any advice appreciated.0 -

That gives me hope that my should arrive soon then as I emailed Ian and also Simon on Monday. They received my acceptance on the 6th Oct. Always worth a nudge I think! Pleased to see someone else received their cheque a week after the 15 days.0 -

If you don't owe them any money at all you should have a cheque for the full amount. If you owe them any money at all, through deafault, or non-payment, they can keep what you owe them first, then send the rest to you.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Good Luck
Thank you sunny2012, I posted my acceptance for upholding my complaint for a figure of £5k+ and after waiting for the 15 working days, and not receiving my cheque, I finally phoned Simon Cooper on the no that you gave, and he said he would phone me back. That was on Tues, he didn't call, so phoned again on Wed morning, he said that my cheque was ordered and I would get either the end of this week or start of next week. I also sent him an email on the address you gave. Guess what , I got my cheque today, Thurs, the day after I phoned him back! So thanks and other people who are waiting for their cheques should also phone Simon Cooper cos it worked for me!0 -
I posted my acceptance on 19th Sept without recorded delivery. After waiting 2 weeks got worried and came onto this site to find all these people in the same boat, with some taking months to get paid. Sunny2012 very kindly put the tel no of Simon Cooper on , at Citi, so I phoned him on the 23rd Oct, and he said he would call me back. Well he didnt, so I rang again on the 24th Oct, then he told me my cheque had been ordered, and I would recieve it sometime in the next week. Well I received it the next day, 25th Oct, so I am very happy that I came onto this site. Thankyou Sunny 2012.0

Cool, I contacted Simon on Monday and received an email the same day saying my cheque had been ordered and would arrive before 5th November. So hopefully given your post above I might get my cheque soon.0 -

You, on the other hand, are complaining of waiting for the Bank to respond to your complaint in the first place!
You do realise there is no guarantee of success?
The Banks are allowed eight weeks to consider complaints, but they should have acknowledged your letter within 2-3 weeks of receipt. As you have received no reply at all, it may be that the Bank don't have it . If this proves to be the case, do make haste in re-sending it because the eight weeks will only begin when they actually receive it.
Thankyou for your advice i am sorry i posted it in the wrong thread as you kindly pointed out!! I have received a letter which said my claim was unsucessful,so you can now rub your hands together and say i told you so!!!! I have now taken it further, but like you say not all cases are a guarantee sucess but why not try nothing to loose!!0 -
You gave no details of your complaint, so why would I be saying "I told you so"?Paulab1975 wrote: »I have received a letter which said my claim was unsucessful,so you can now rub your hands together and say i told you so!
My comments were directed purely at the process which allows the Bank eight weeks to respond. By stating there was no guarantee of success, I was in no way implying you would definitely fail!
I assume by "taking further" you mean you have referred your case to the Ombudsman? Do be aware that this is currently taking a year or more.

Thankyou for your reply sorry it just felt at the time you were against me,I am aware it can take a year but got nothing to loose?! I had an egg loan which I was told I had to have ppi on as they wouldn't allow the loan due to my circumstances, they are no saying I did not have means of protecting my payments when I had a house with mortgage and also I because I never got sick pay but I actually get statutory sick pay so this should count?? Sorry for being a bit abrupt just having a bad week!!! LolMoneyineptitude wrote: »You gave no details of your complaint, so why would I be saying "I told you so"?

That's a pittance compared to a full wage and is designed for subsistence; not for paying loans etc.Paulab1975 wrote: »I actually get statutory sick pay so this should count??
So, SSP would not count as evidence that you didn't need PPI.0
