EGG - PPI Claim upheld but still no cheque!

  • I was "forced" into taking PPI on an Egg loan back in 2005. I applied online and the loan was declined. When I rang customer services I was told I could only have the loan if I had PPI.

I have since settled the loan and also moved house and I cannot find the paperwork or anything with an account number on.

Is it possible to submit a claim without the account number??

    Thanks
  • Success!

My cheque has just dropped through the postbox! Shame it was held up before christmas due to errors at CSO, but still, I'm a lot happier that it has arrived well before I expected it to after the delays!

The replacement cheque took 7 working days - was dated christmas eve, so not bad due to the christmas postal delays!

Thanks again to anyone who contributed their time and advice - and if anyone is having problems, do call the PPI team on 0800 358 2101 - they were really helpful whilst I was complaining about the delays to my cheque!

  • I started the process on 31-10-12 and cheque arrived today :) it will be banked on Monday happy days. Just to keep my fellow bloggers in the know with time scales, they sent me a letter of acknowledgement with regards my signed letter of acceptance on 15-12-12. They told me they received it on 12-12-12, but I posted the acceptance off on 1-12-12. Cheque came today 29-12-12, cheque and letter dated the 20-12-12.

Yes you can! I was in the same boat as you, no paperwork what so ever. So what I did was print off a PPI reclaim off put as much info as possible. i gave them a time window of 12 months circa 2002/03 and sent it to the following address. This link and address will get the ball rolling. I started the process 31-10-12 and the cheque arrived 28-12-12.

Thanks for posting timescales. I posted my acceptance form off to CSO on Friday so should have cheque by the end of January if they stick within their quoted 20 working days. :)

I sent my PPI Questionnaire to Egg at the start of November 2012.

They responded towards the end of November highlighting that my claim was accepted, together with an amount and asking me to provide proof of change of address and sign the acceptance form. The form and the proof went immediately.

Still not received anything! I have frantically been trying to call numbers and send emails but everyone says that the department does not take incoming calls.

However, I called 0800 358 2101 and spoke to someone who was quite helpful (they answered the phone as Canada Square Operations but didn't say which department)

He said that my form and proof of address was received on the 28/12/2012 (I sent it Recorded Delivery at the end of November but the form wasn't actually actioned until 28 days after!)

He said a letter went out to you on 02/01/2013 - I asked to what address? He said it was the old one! I queried and asked whether it was a cheque or a letter - he said it was for you to sign the acceptance form :-/ I stated that I had already sent a signed acceptance form and proof he said that this was a mistake.

He said that the department only deals with postal queries however he is going to send all my details to the department and to send the cheque to the new address (that he already had on screen)

Hopefully, it will arrive in a few days time!
  • I have been following this thread for some time as I am in the same sitution.

I sent my acceptance letter back to CSO on 28th November by registered post and received their acknowledgement letter dated 4th December stating that they would be sending my cheque within 20 business days.

20 business days passed on Friday, so I called CSO's PPI client service team on 0800 358 2101. However, they were unable to confirm whether the cheque had actually been posted or not, and if it had been posted, on what date it was sent.

I have requested that they cancel and reissue the cheque. Apparently the process to cancel the cheque will take 7 business days and then I'm into waiting for a further 20 business days for another cheque which may or may or may not arrive.

Needless to say, I will be livid if the original cheque turns up in the post tomorrow! However without any guarantee that the original cheque will ever turn up, I need to know that the process is moving along, albeit extremely slowly!

The real question is, why does it take them so long to issue payments in the 21st century?

Looks like things have slowed down over Xmas.

I received a confirmation letter dated 30/11 that they had received my signed agreement form.

Chased them on 3/1, just over the 20 day deadline. They were helpful but couldn't tell me anything about the cheque, just that they would pass it on to the relevant department who are not contactable by phone or email apparently! Told them I'd give them a week & call again.

If I still haven't received it by end of this week, I'll be making a complaint when I call again about their inaccurate timescales!

  • Very glad I've found this thread - I posted my acceptance to Canada Square Operations on 8th November, they said they would pay within 20 working days of receipt so was expecting to receive early Dec in plenty of time for Christmas. Cheque didn't arrive but with Christmas I didn't get a chance to look into it, but as it's still not here I did a quick Google to find the contact details posted on here, so fingers crossed I will get a response (and money!) from them soon...
