EGG - PPI Claim upheld but still no cheque!

CSO have just called me to confirm that they have cancelled the original cheque that never arrived.
The clock now starts again on the 20 working day turnaround for the reissued cheque to arrive, meaning that I'm looking at 7th February now.

I have just been in touch with cso on 0800 358 2101 an was told that my acceptance form had not been received (sent back 14th Dec) but after having another look advised it had been received but not attached to claim so would now have to wait another 20 working days because of here muck up and he could only apologies. I was not very happy and commented that this was not within their timeline and its not the first person to have bad service from them. He is going to send over today. Will call them in exactly 20 working days if no cheque.0

That's exactly what happened to me two days ago. I received a letter to confirm receipt of acceptance form today.0 -

Similar issue here - further to my earlier post about sending my acceptance off in November, I did get a reply from them on 11th Jan claiming that they had only just received it that day! Likely story... and today I've had a letter dated 15th Jan confirming it will now be 20 days so I'm not best pleased. And just like Honey05, I've got a note in my diary to call them in exactly 20 days!0 -
I've finally received my cheque after 34 days!
Anyone in a similar position, please keep chasing them. Although the telephone operators were helpful, I personally don't think they did anything to help speed my cheque up (must have called 5 times since the 20 day deadline passed). In my case I think my email to Simon Cooper, as per the helpful MSE posters suggested, resulted in my cheque being re-issued on 11/1 (originally 30/11). I also followed this up with a strongly worded letter in the post.
Best of luck to everyone with their outstanding claims and please keep the forum updated as it was a certainly a great help to me!Mortgage free wannabeMortgage (November 2010) £135,850Mortgage (November 2020) £4,7840 -
My cheque arrived today at long last. Good luck to those still waiting - don't give up!0

Very interesting to see the replies on this. We've been battling with Egg since 2011. My husband and I both had credit cards with them, both with PPI. We both sent off letters to Egg at the same time. I got a letter back almost immediately offering refund which was back in 2011 (October I think). My husband got a letter saying his had been sold to Barclaycard. Finally this year, we got a letter saying that Barclaycard didn't own the credit card and never had as it was not transferred from Egg, despite their letter saying so, so we were advised to contact Canada Square Operations in Worthing. We did this last week, so fingers crossed things will go more smoothly this time.....0

Similar problems here. Acceptance form and proof of address (why do they even need this? Other companies do not require this even if you have changed address since the original loan was taken out) sent over a month ago, and nothing.
Phoned the number and as they're based in London and the cheques done in Worthing neither seem to really know exactly what the other are doing.
Why do they even put this 20 day turnaround on the correspondence if they're blatantly not adhering to it? Could this in itself be grounds for a complaint to the Ombudsman?
Also is there not a statutory minumum time period turnaround for the whole PPI process, from when the claim is initiated? I started my claim originally last summer, and it's still ongoing over six months later! All my other PPI claims acknowledged and paid up by September when they too were initiated around the same time in the summer. Can see on this thread others have been waiting over a year!
So is the way the PPI is being handled here generally enough to make an Ombudsman compaint? Surely Worthing should have phone numbers too to be contactable? It's incredible how they start these 20 day turnarounds all over again if something goes wrong. Judging by this thread these methods seem to be general practice. Frustrating.0
