It all depends upon whether or not you are liable for the increase. How long ago did you renew or take out the contracts? If in the last few months - I don't know exactly but mine was in May - then no increase will apply.

If earlier, then you should have been notified.

If in doubt, ring 191 and find out.

If increase applies, chances of cancelling without penalty, notwithstanding what has been written on here, very, very slim. Chances of getting some sort of deal that leaves you no worse off, very, very good.

    Just like last year.

Operators have to give a pac on request, bet thats what they have done in line with ofcom. They will hit with a bill at the end once used, i find it funny people are donating to a new user without even getting confirmation in writting first this is better than the scams I see
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • I agree to an extent, I think you're ultimately going to be left disappointed.
Have been going through the same thing for weeks now with Vodafone.
I requested my PAC and was given it, as they are obligated to.
It doesn't mean you necessarily get out of the contract ETF free though.
I have been quoted a couple of hundred pounds ETF to get out of the contract, while I have my PAC to tranfer to another network in hand already, so the 2 are not directly linked.

I have also brought up the points where I have been adversely affected (including exact figures and percentage increases), and have also reiterated other terms where they have failed to notify me of changes and even the terms and conditions in the first place.
They seem to conveniently ignore all of these points though, despite me repeating them a good dozen times already.

They're not going to let any contract go easily and will drag this on as long as possible by the looks of it.

One thing this has taught me, is never to bother getting a mobile phone contract ever again.
I was already getting frustrated by the jump from 12 month to 18 month to 24 month.
Now with them pushing through all sorts of price increases, on two occasions in the past 12 months, I'm not even near happy about Vodafone or with the fact that anyone feels thay can do what they want with a "fixed term" contract.

The contract is effectively not worth the paper it's written on, certainly from the consumer's side.
  • I agree with the above comment, it does not matter what you say to them they are going to milk you for the money, robbing b*****ds.I will leave at the end of contract and stick two fingers upto vodafone so they will loose out in the end for being greedy and treating customers bad.

Is there not any body regulating what they can do and can not do, that we can complain to, if so can you post a link up please.

It seems that this country is now full of companies who are all putting their prices up by however much that they want to and ripping the public off and they are allowed to do it, about time this government stood up to these companies and look after its people and stop them from doing it.

Quite right. Oil companies, supermarkets, energy companies, train companies. All going up. Should be state controlled. Of course, that means wages controlled as well, and benefits frozen or reduced. Great new idea.

Or, wait a minute, wasn't that the system in the USSR, China and other communist countries some years ago? And, of course, people were free to comment adversely on governments without fear or favour.......etc, etc.

Get perspective! A few pence extra per month in line with inflation. And if you leave Vodafone, where will you go? PAYG? Or another major network, all of whom increased their charges the same way last year. Frying pan and fire come to mind.

Want to save money? Then stick with your current handset till it dies and go sim-only. Or get rid of your mobile altogether.

There is a stark difference between communism and an expectation of a "fair" price, which reflects the costs of the company to provide the service you have asked for....
Vodafone are raking in huge profits and instead of having the forethought to build in projected inflation costs across the duration of a contracts lifetime, they have lured people in with promises of cheap deals and then changed them once they have tied you in for 2 years.
Regardless of what the cost ultimately boils down to, it's still not right.

Vodafone don't even pay their fair share of UK tax, so in any other scenario, where an entity takes so much but gives back so little, they would be considered a parasite.

A far cry from reverse communism...

What do you mean ' Get Perspective ' are you saying that its right what vodafone are doing are you, it does not matter wether its 1p or £5 increase, we have agreed a price at the beginning of the two years, they should not be allowed to increase mid way of contract.
What would you do if you were shopping at tesco and when you got home you found that you were overcharged on something against the advertised price, you would be in there claiming DTD. It is the same difference with vodafone except people can not do anything about it, we all agreed a price to pay and that price has been changed, you would not accept to pay more for something that you have seen advertised at less on the shelf edge label.
Yes when my contract ends i will tell them where to go and i will not get another contract i will go sim only.
