Dad is away at the moment so I was hoping I would have this done and the RAM in before he got back. He is due in about 6:30pm.

 You may have an ex-external drive.

Unplug the J: drive (use Safely Remove Hardware if the icon is present in the tray) Disconnect power. Plug USB lead back into computer, then re-apply power. Do you hear the disc spinning and Windows 'chime' ?

Right click J: > Properties. Any change?

Do you have another PC/laptop you can test it on?

What is an ex-external drive? :o

I heard the disc spinning but I did not hear the Windows "chime".

The properties are still the same.

I could test it on my laptop but how do I test it? :o
