I'm not getting my top 5 any more
Did you make 15 transactions in the month? This month I got a little over £50, all at 0.5%.
If I'd had the top 5 at 2%, I'd have had an extra £130 odd.
That would mean that your top 5 transactions were an average of £1733 each. That's a fair amount of spending.0 -
Ok, well Barclaycard don't seem to understand that they're not doing what their terms are saying they'll do - in fact they say that their promotional terms override their standard terms and conditions.
I don't have a copy of the promotional terms, but I'm looking for one...
Their resolution for my time and effort is a £130 credit to the card balance to make up for the top 5 being missing, but they say they won't do that next month.
So, it looks like I'll be doing my spending on a different card next month!0 -
Ah, I understand now. You mean that you've had the card less than 3 months, and that in these months the cashback is 6% up to £120 and 0.5% on everything else, so because you've had £120 on 6% you're on 0.5% until 3 months have passed from opening?
I'm afraid in that case that they're probably right, and I guess they weren't expecting someone to max that in a month. I always thought that promotional T+Cs took precedence of standard T+Cs anyway. Reduced balance transfer fees for example always have the standard rate in the T+Cs and the reduced fee in the promotional terms.0 -
Spot on. Although it's inferred earlier in the thread (post 227) that things may not be working correctly.
To see if that's the case, I'd really like to see the promotional T&Cs, but can't find them!
I'd link you to post 227 but I'm not allowed as a newbie.
(I took this card on as I'm renovating my house, and knew my spending would be through the roof)0 -

yes. i thought it was an odd system when i got the card, but i checked it out in advance, bagged the £120 & then put it in the draw until i could start earning 2%. it was strange, but clear.0 -
Clearish, yes, depending on which rule you look at. £120 max cashback in the first three months, fine, ok.
However, you still seem to get the 0.5% after you've gone past £120, so that rule doesn't seem to stand.
Either way, I'll be using the world mastercard (ex Egg) until the third month is up.0 -
Hi - newbie here, feeling rather overwhelmed at the mo!
Just logged onto mybarclaycard to (rather belatedly) check my first statement, only to discover that I have received a rather-less-than-remarkable £1.69 cashback. On phoning, I was told that this is because I only had 12 txns on my first statement and I needed 15 to qualify for the 6%. Wait a minute though - I got the card on 5 june and my 1st statement was on 19th - isn't that a bit of a swick? Especially since I requested a statement date in the first week of the month when I applied for the card and was told that would adversely affect my 6% offer! When I rang to complain just now, I was told, sorry but that's how it is, can't change your statement date now. Never mind, you've still got 2 months left!!! After some serious complaining, I was offered £20 as a gesture of goodwill. I said that wasn't nearly enough given my level of spending and was eventually offered £40.
Can't say I'm impressed. Plus, I couldn't get logged onto their website and had to go through the whole "forgotten username and password" thing. When I eventually got on, I sent a secure message asking that they send me a reminder for my username, only to get the response "sorry, this isn't a secure channel, you'll have to phone"! What's the point of secure messaging if it's not secure!!!
Feeling rather frazzled now - this wasn't how I'd planned on spending my day off0 -
I had the same experience - I got just a few days to work up my first month's worth of 15 transactions. I bought plenty of Amazon gift vouchers for 10p each. Surprisingly it didn't set off any fraud alerts!0

Sorry to hear it, I had hoped that mine was a one-off mistake. Shocking that they are getting away with this.0
